#TutuTuesday: A Whirlwind Through Time! (Blog Post #4597)

Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu-loving time traveller, and it's another glorious #TutuTuesday! 🩰

I'm just back from a fabulous trip to the vibrant streets of Paris, France. Ooh la la! Such style! Can you imagine the fashion back in 1920!? The women here are positively dazzling with their flapper dresses and chic bobs, and I just couldn't resist adding a little sprinkle of tutu magic to their already glamorous look. You know me, can't resist a chance to share my passion for all things tutu!

But before I dive into the fabulous Parisian tutu scene, let's take a little trip back in time...

I recently landed back in England after a delightful sojourn in 1920, and I have to say, the tutu scene was very different! While Parisian fashion was buzzing with daring flapper dresses and scandalous short hemlines, the English were still a tad more reserved in their dress code. Imagine: Tutus were only seen on stage. That's right! 😱 No tutus waltzing through the streets of London, sadly! But hey, every journey starts somewhere, right?

Today, I'll take you through my own special adventures from my trip back to 1920 - with all the tutu-ful revelations that come along with it! ✨

A Peek Into the 1920s Ballet Scene

This trip, I was fortunate to attend a performance of the world-famous Ballets Russes, which at the time was revolutionising ballet across the globe. It was breathtaking! The costumes, while far removed from our modern tutus, had this dramatic flair. Imagine swirling silk gowns, sparkling gemstones, and delicate hand-painted embellishments, all showcasing a story with every flick of a hand. It was as though the stage itself came to life with vibrant colour and fluid movement.

Let's just say, the fashion on stage was something else! Imagine a mixture of colourful tunics and dramatic pants, all with a touch of historical inspiration. These ballerinas danced in pieces designed by iconic artists like LΓ©on Bakst and Pablo Picasso! Talk about chic! Their movements, fluid and ethereal, had an undeniable beauty. They were like fairies leaping and swirling across the stage, carrying with them a breathtaking vision of beauty. And it was just the start of an incredible journey of change.

Back to the Fashion Frontier: Tututastic Shopping!

Back in my time machine, I decided to hop into a charming boutique nestled within the heart of London's West End. I found myself enthralled by their collections of charming, silk blouses, delightful dresses and delightful velvet jackets! So much attention to detail was put into their creations. I just knew, even if tutus hadn't hit the fashion scene yet, a girl could find a way to make them her own!

Think: adding a tiny, frilly ruffle to a blouse, maybe adding some layers of ribbon to an otherwise plain skirt. There are endless ways to bring your personal sense of flair to any look. Let's face it, a touch of sparkle goes a long way, right?✨

Train Travel with a Twist

From London, I caught the train to Paris (how else does one travel in style?!), and what an exciting trip that was! It wasn't as streamlined as our modern high-speed trains, but it felt like being transported in time. There were luxurious carriages, a sense of calm and elegance, and the clinking of glasses as ladies sipped champagne, and everyone seemed so utterly chic! I took the opportunity to sneak a few twirls in the train corridor – gotta show them how it's done! (To be honest, I think they just gave me funny looks! 🀣) But honestly, I feel it was the start of the Tutu Revolution on the continent.
