Tutu Tuesday #4610: A Dance Through Time โ€“ 4th May 1920!

Hello my darling tututistas! Welcome back to another magical Tutu Tuesday, where we twirl through the history of our beloved ballet tutus! I'm your whimsical time-traveling ballerina, Emma, and I'm ready to whisk you back to the roaring twenties, to a time when the world was dancing to a new rhythm โ€“ and tutus were playing a key role in it!

Today, my dears, we're stepping into the glittering halls of the Paris Opera House. Oh, can you imagine the excitement? The energy, the grandeur! This, my loves, is the heart of ballet, a heart beating strong and vibrant in 1920.

The Era of Experimentation:

It's the dawn of a new decade, and everything, from music to fashion, is taking a leap forward. The war is over, and the world is seeking a new kind of freedom โ€“ a freedom expressed through movement, through colour, through art!

The Tutu's Evolution:

And how did our tutus evolve during this exhilarating period? Well, darling, they're still clinging to the past a bit! The Romantic Tutu, with its billowing layers of tulle, is still in style. It's all about lightness, about graceful movement. It's like a whisper of a cloud dancing across the stage, evoking pure fantasy and dreams.

A Glimpse of Change:

But, oh my! There are whispers of revolution in the air. We're starting to see those first glimpses of the 'Demi-pointe' style tutu, that little shorter, more practical tutu that would be favoured in the future. But remember, my dears, change takes time. The stage, as always, is a place for pushing boundaries!

My 1920's Fashion Fix

Speaking of boundaries, my darling, I simply must tell you about the fashion trends I've been enjoying in 1920's Paris. The dresses are utterly exquisite โ€“ long and flowing with beaded bodices. We're also seeing more women embracing shorter, more athletic clothing, particularly those fashionable 'flapper' styles that celebrate a new kind of liberation.

Imagine my delight, my dears, I recently acquired a gorgeous pair of pink silk pumps! They match my new pastel pink tutu - I'll be looking like a breath of Parisian springtime in this little ensemble! I simply love finding exquisite vintage gems! It's like my time machine collects treasures as well as memories.

The Art of Ballet:

Here in Paris, I am simply surrounded by captivating ballets, the kind of shows that fill my heart with pure joy. My darling, have you ever seen a performance of Le Sacre du Printemps? Oh, the power, the primal energy, the sheer innovation of the piece! I am lucky enough to see the Bolshoi Ballet touring through Paris right now. These talented dancers are making a powerful impression, and their performances have truly inspired me to continue pursuing my love of ballet.

Traveling on Rails:

And wouldn't you know it? A big part of being a time-traveling ballerina is finding efficient, beautiful modes of transport. This week, my dears, I've been travelling through France on a beautiful Pullman carriage, enjoying the scenery and savoring every delightful moment. This beautiful journey allows me to find the best ballet performances and shows, and indulge my passion for fashion and vintage shopping along the way!

Oh my dears, isn't travelling such an adventure? And imagine my delight to find a lovely vintage hat shop in Lille just yesterday. My, they were wonderful! My dear readers, do remember, that a hat is the perfect accompaniment for a ballerinaโ€™s ensemble! A charming accessory indeed!

Spread the Pink Tutu Love:

Remember my lovely tututistas, my biggest desire is for everyone to dance their way into the magic of a pink tutu. It doesn't matter if it's on a stage, in a street performance, or simply while taking a leisurely stroll.

Now, my dears, until we dance together again next Tuesday, don't forget to twirl and shine. And, remember, never stop dreaming! And do always wear your pink tutus with pride, just like me!

XOXO
