#TutuTuesday: A Whirl Through Time - 1924! (Post #4832)

Hello, my darling dears! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, here, and it's a gloriously sunny #TutuTuesday in the world of 1924! As you know, my journey through time isn't just about tutus - it's about the incredible story of dance, and today's destination has me feeling positively bubbly! Let's get twirling!

This week, I've hopped back to London - a city positively buzzing with artistic energy, especially when it comes to ballet! And speaking of tutus... oh my dear, it's like I've landed in a wonderland! There's been such a huge development since the earlier decades - even just compared to my 1900s trips!

This new age of the 20th century is filled with the joyous spirit of fashion that matches the dance beautifully! Imagine, the world is now embracing daring colours like ruby red, sparkling sapphire blue and sunny yellow - just the most glorious pops of energy on stage! I just love the contrast of those vivid colours against a white tulle skirt! Just divine!

There are also exciting developments happening with the shape of the tutu. Now it's not just all about the knee-length fluffy ballgown look of yore! I've spotted variations that accentuate the figure – with beautiful lines that draw your eye right down the centre, with just the right amount of billowing tulle for extra impact when the dancers move!

This 1920s vibe brings a kind of whimsy to the whole scene. Even the fabric choices are changing, reflecting this new freedom in movement. And of course, there's a splash of my beloved pink. I found a glorious peach pink satin on display at a milliner's! Oh my! Imagine that shade in a billowing, tiered skirt! Such delightful visions!

The other exciting news? London is overflowing with glamorous ballet dancers. You wouldn't believe how much they've started using ballet to tell stories, express emotion, and evoke such profound feelings with their dancing! And that makes it all the more delightful to watch! The drama, the artistry, it's utterly entrancing!

For my trip, I've donned my favourite pink tutu with an antique lace trim. The delicate lace accents are oh-so-sophisticated, echoing the ornate decorations at the Grand Opera House. Oh my, wouldn't a little lace do wonders on a stage too? Just imagine those sparkling rhinestones and sequins embellishing the delicate layers! Oh, the dreams, dear readers, the dreams!

Now, before I lose myself in a whirlwind of ideas, I just have to mention the one truly essential part of the trip – THE THEATRE! It's simply a MUST! This glorious old London theatre - all red velvet seating, opulent chandeliers, and beautiful box seats. This week, they are showing the delightful 'Sleeping Beauty'! Of course I am a big fan of any ballet with a beautiful story and happy ending, just as I enjoy the excitement of a 'ballet de caractère' - full of interesting costumes, stories and passionate dance - I could not miss seeing this!

As always, dear readers, I hope you found this little time-travelling jaunt as exciting as I did! Now, please do indulge in the world of pink tutus and ballet, but always remember to keep twirling with joy!

Until next week's #TutuTuesday,

Your devoted tutu-enthusiast,

Emma
