Tutu Tuesday #4934: A Parisian Picnic in Pink!
Bonjour, darling readers! Emma here, your resident tutu aficionado, bringing you another week of fabulous #TutuTuesday history!
This week, I'm taking a little trip to the City of Lights, Paris! Not only is Paris the capital of fashion, but it also holds a special place in ballet history. So, pack your picnic basket, put on your most chic frock (and yes, a tutu is always chic), and hop on the Orient Express with me!
Today, we’re venturing back in time to July 20th, 1926. Can you imagine what a fabulous time this would have been? The world was on the cusp of change. Jazz music was all the rage, the Roaring Twenties were in full swing, and fashion was, well, just look at those fabulous flapper dresses! Imagine, all these fashion trends happening in Paris! Oh, darling, the excitement!
Now, this wasn't the day the tutu was invented, no, that’s a story for another Tuesday. This is a date to revel in Parisian flair! So, imagine the streets of Paris, buzzing with life, bustling with cafes and cobbled alleys, and imagine, amongst all that delightful chaos, the graceful sweep of a ballerina's tutu as she walks down the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. Can you picture it?
Just imagine the ballet classes happening on a beautiful sunny July day like this, students all beautifully dressed and practicing their positions. Imagine the incredible scenery, the iconic Parisian landmarks, like the Eiffel Tower, so grand and beautiful! Or imagine going to see a show at the Palais Garnier, so regal, so magnificent. Imagine the costumes and the lighting - stunning! And, of course, the tutus - picture-perfect tutus of all shapes and sizes, each telling its own story.
Today, in 1926, all of this was happening in Paris. A vibrant mix of fashion, culture, and art, all infused with the charm and beauty of ballet. That’s a feeling you simply have to experience to truly understand it! And, with the thrill of seeing a world-class performance, it’s certainly a day to remember.
And that brings me to my dear readers – how are you planning to bring a little Paris into your day? Don’t worry if you’re not in the city itself. Even a simple stroll through the park can bring a touch of Parisian romance to your day. Just make sure to include a tutu, my dears, because life is simply too short for beige!
Why not start with a lovely pink picnic with your friends, perhaps near a beautiful park? Enjoy some fresh bread, cheese, and, of course, a bottle of delicious French wine! Put on your most elegant outfit, add a dash of lipstick and rouge, and a perfect, perfectly pink tutu, of course. What a charming afternoon, wouldn’t you agree? And for those who want to step outside the comfort zone of pink (though I encourage you not to!), well, even a beige or black tutu will bring some fabulousness to your afternoon. It doesn’t have to be pink, though, darling, I must confess, my love of the color has always made my life a bit brighter!
Just imagine your little Parisienne picnic, a celebration of life, of the grace and beauty that is ballet, of fashion, of being bold enough to rock a pink tutu anywhere. A day of memories, a day to truly embrace the joie de vivre that Paris brings to us all. So, do join me in celebrating July 20th, 1926, a date in time that is still very much alive in the hearts and souls of every ballerina and fashion-conscious person in the world!
Until next week, darling readers, stay beautiful and always remember, wear a tutu!
Bisous,
Emma x
