Tutu Tuesday #4941: A Whirlwind Through Time to 1926!

Hello, darlings! Emma here, your resident Tutu-loving time traveller, back again for another week of #TutuTuesday and a glimpse into the enchanting world of ballet history!

Today, we’re taking a glamorous train journey right back to 1926. Buckle your seatbelts, because this is a trip full of sparkling tulle and groundbreaking ballet!

Now, imagine a time before tutus were a staple of ballet class and stage, a time when those dreamy, airy creations were only dreamt of… That was a while back, folks, and by 1926, they’d already revolutionised the dance world!

I’ve just returned from seeing the most magnificent performance in Paris - yes, Paris! The city of love and, oh yes, a most passionate dance scene! It was simply glorious! I, of course, sported my finest pink tutu - I do love to spread the tutu gospel, after all, and you can never go wrong with a splash of pink on stage.

This trip has filled my mind with inspiration for this week’s #TutuTuesday post - the history of ballet costumes!

Now, Let’s Talk Tutus!

Let’s delve back to a time before ballet's current ethereal look!

1926: The Ballet World in Bloom

In 1926, the ballet world was blooming! And it’s not just me being flowery – ballet was taking some absolutely breathtaking steps forward! Imagine graceful dancers moving effortlessly in simple yet elegant dresses with graceful movements - there were many dance pioneers.

It's important to understand the era, darlings. You've got the likes of Sergei Diaghilev and his "Ballets Russes," who changed the entire game with their avant-garde costumes and artistic sensibilities. Picture that – dance, drama, and artistry coming together in ways that redefined what ballet could be!

1926 saw the introduction of tutus in many different forms, not necessarily in the shape and volume they are known for today, but evolving beautifully! They were designed for an incredibly demanding art form.

Let’s Dance!

One thing that always brings me joy is watching ballerinas dance. Seeing the elegance and grace of the performers - absolutely mesmerizing.

I could chat for hours about this era and all the fashion in it, but, I have to get ready for my next performance. I can’t be late for my performance. If you've been enjoying my #TutuTuesday posts, head over to my website and grab a pink tutu and lets get you prepped up for some dance. Remember – even if you can't dance professionally, don't let that stop you from showing the world your love of ballet in a tutu. You may be wearing it to the grocery store but that's what makes your look and life a masterpiece!

Love, Emma x
