#TutuTuesday: A Whirlwind of Dance in 1927!

Welcome back to my #TutuTuesday, lovelies! This week, I’ve taken a trip to a rather magical era. I’m writing from the heart of the 1920s, surrounded by all things glamorous and bold! Oh, the colours, the fashion! Even the men look terribly dashing, although I can’t help but feel they’re missing something - a hint of pink, perhaps? But I digress, today we’re focusing on tutudom, and oh, my dears, the journey begins in the dazzling world of ballet.

For this week’s TutuTuesday (#4970 in our series – yes, I’ve been at this for quite a while!), we’re going to delve into March 29th, 1927. This is a special day in ballet history because it marked the birthday of one of the most celebrated ballerinas of all time - Margot Fonteyn! Born in England, she went on to become an absolute icon. The world wouldn’t have known the joy of such magnificent grace and ethereal artistry if it hadn't been for her!

Back to the tutus! Now, while ballet in 1927 may not have been quite as spectacular as it is today, they were well on their way! Classical ballet was thriving, with beautiful, flowing tutus like this one *(image of a beautiful classical ballerina wearing a classical pink tutu) * Oh, how I dream of dancing in this very outfit! The intricate hand-stitching, the fine materials… Simply enchanting!

Fashion & Theatrical Shows: A Match Made in Heaven

1927 was all about flappers and glamorous evenings! Dresses were short and free-flowing, reflecting a world on the move. The fashion world and ballet, ever entwined, reflected these societal trends. The movement in these outfits became almost a choreography, just like our dancers! I think the Charleston must be a favourite amongst the dancing crowd. And can we talk about those gorgeous feathered boas? Oh, it all just screams luxury! What a time to be alive! *

Where My Tutu-Adventures Took Me This Time: A Parisian Sojourn!

I couldn’t possibly resist visiting Paris, where ballet has always been a passion! You simply can’t escape its magnetic allure, and my time in this captivating city was filled with wonder. Ballet performances, gorgeous couture displays, delicious pastry… I have to say, this trip did involve more than just ballet and my quest to make pink tutus a thing - I confess, I indulged in a little bit of shopping therapy! ( I just can’t help myself, especially when it comes to finding a new tutu or two).

London Calling - Back to My Roots

But no journey through 1927 is complete without a little taste of London! Oh, I can already hear the roaring engines, the jazz music filling the air! The iconic red double-decker buses were a sight to behold! It’s amazing how these iconic elements continue to shape our world even today. As a true Derbyshire lass, I felt so at home! And did I mention the ballet performances at the Covent Garden theatre? (Image of a scene from a ballet at The Covent Garden theatre) Breathtaking! (Images of Covent Garden) Such a lovely journey!

My Pink Tutu's Adventures Continue: #PinkTutuGoals

While I continue to be enchanted by the tutudom of the past, my future pink tutu endeavors keep my mind busy! I've got plans to visit 1960s London, and oh, imagine what those costumes must look like - all those groovy colours! Or what about venturing back to 17th Century Paris, where tutus may not have existed in their modern form, but where fashion was all about exuberant, grand costumes! The possibilities are truly endless, lovelies. And don't worry, I’ll be sharing all these exciting adventures with you, right here, on www.pink-tutu.com, and on my social media!

Now, tell me, where would you like to see me go next? What's your favourite tutu era? Share your thoughts and let's dance our way into the rest of this week, darlings! **

Until next time, and remember: it’s never too late to rock a pink tutu!

Yours truly, Emma (aka the Pink Tutu Girl)
