#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: A Twirl Back in Time! 🩰🌸

Hello darlings! Emma here, your pink tutu-clad guide to all things ballet, fashion, and… whispers… time travel! Welcome to this week's #TutuTuesday blog, where we take a whimsical twirl through the history of ballet, specifically our beloved tutu.

Now, put on your dancing shoes and grab your fanciest teacup (a spot of Earl Grey is always perfect with a history lesson), because today, we're stepping back to a glorious day in October 1927.

Ooh la la! This date marks a day full of frills, frocks, and absolutely fabulous theatre! You see, in this glorious era, theatre was all the rage! It was a truly magical world full of elegance and whimsy…and of course, the tutu.

Before I tell you all about this spectacular era, I want to thank you all so much for joining me on my #pinktutu journey. It is absolutely heartwarming to know that you all join me every week for these whimsical voyages. This is why I absolutely adore sharing my love for the tutu and the art of dance with you. I must tell you… I'm this close to reaching one million subscribers! A huge thank you to everyone who has shared the love and been a part of this journey. I must admit, that reaching such a number fills me with utter delight…and is truly fit for a ballerina princess!

Now, back to 1927. In that deliciously charming year, ballet was beginning to thrive. Paris was a swirling flurry of beautiful dancers in magnificent tutus. London, too, had its own burgeoning ballet scene. We're talking about a time when people actually got dressed up to go to the theatre. Think shimmering silk gowns, sparkling jewels, and stunning hats – what a time!

This particular October day was special because the Royal Ballet performed a beautiful new rendition of Giselle! Can you believe it, darling? Such a lovely tale of heartbreak and breathtaking artistry. They really made Giselle burst with passion and magic. This is the true beauty of ballet. It's like witnessing the world come alive through movement and music.

Oh! Have I mentioned the trains, darling? The Orient Express – such a delightful journey. A perfect excuse to wear your most stylish frock. One could spot some fabulously chic women decked out in dazzling jewels and hats that looked like walking gardens!

It's during this era, darling, when we started seeing ballet costumes* that really were true works of art! Fringe, *sequins, and a riot of colors—all to make each *pas de deux captivate the audience. The sheer beauty of swirling tutus, shimmering under the stage lights, left everyone breathless with wonder. It was magic!

Of course, let's not forget the importance of fashion. Think flowing silk, elegant coats, and delightful hats—all with beautiful accents. Imagine the joy of selecting the perfect accessory to accentuate your dress! I must say that shopping is a true ballet… a performance of color and style.

Darling, as we step back from this lovely journey, we must remember to embrace the beauty and whimsy of these earlier days. Let's bring back the elegance and joy of dress-up, and let's not forget the power of passion and art that truly captured the world's imagination.

So darling, make it your mission to wear your own tutu with absolute confidence. This will give everyone that ballet bliss. Twirl, sway, laugh, sparkle, and be the amazing you! Let's get ready to twirl into the future, together!

Until next week,

Emma
