I just had to wear this blush pink tulle confection for our trip! I even matched it with a little diamanté headband. It's all about that perfect '20s feel! I adore the history of dance and the style that came along with it. Today, I'll be showing you some amazing looks and the inspiration behind the elegant costumes from the glamorous, shimmering world of the theatre!

Oh, and don't forget! If you're looking for the perfect pink tutu, you can always shop on my website, www.pink-tutu.com for all your tutu needs! I've got a new range of colours inspired by my time travel, you know!

Onwards, then, to 1929!

Firstly, let's chat about where I'm visiting this time! As always, I'm embracing the epicentre of ballet and artistic elegance – Paris, darling! You could say it’s practically my second home, but there are some fabulous places I haven't yet explored, so this trip’s an adventure in more ways than one! The Eiffel Tower is a must, of course! As is strolling down the Champs-Élysées. Oh, and don't get me started on the delicious Parisian pastries. My goodness, how I love to spoil myself!

The first stop on my 1929 agenda, though? The Opera Garnier. It’s breathtaking, of course! I mean, can you believe the décor and opulence? And the dance! Absolutely heavenly! Oh, but let's rewind back in time and see what Paris is like before we arrive…

1929 – A Year of Dance

This year, ballet is absolutely blossoming! Think Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes. This phenomenal group is taking the world by storm with its creative dance. From “Scheherazade” to “The Firebird”, these captivating, exotic, ballets with their fabulous costumes are all the rage! Imagine it: sparkling, glittering costumes that make every ballerina feel like a queen. This is the true peak of a graceful golden age.
And don't forget, this year, the iconic Serge Diaghilev died. Now, you’ll have to trust me on this, darlings, this is a very significant moment in ballet history! He was a pioneer, leading his Ballets Russes and the art of ballet forward with fresh, colourful ideas that everyone adored.

Fashion Inspired by the Ballerina

Speaking of colour! I had to tell you about the influence of dance on the fashion scene. This time period, you see, the flapper dresses and the chic fashions we all adore were very much inspired by the costumes of the ballet! It’s such an amazing cross-pollination of creativity! These stunning dancers were even influencing the designers of dresses. Talk about powerful! And the fashion is becoming lighter, more playful and flowing with layers of chiffon, silk, and the new material – tulle! It's a glorious era for both dancing and looking absolutely divine!

But even before this flapper era, the fashion trends started around 1900 when it all began with ballet as the inspiration! You know, my favourite: the tutu! I believe that every woman should have at least one in their wardrobe, if not two, no, three or even… you get my point! You know I am passionate about tutus, and it's important to know the amazing history behind them. This lovely bit of attire that helps the ballet dancer take flight is so wonderfully expressive and a wonderful celebration of femininity!

*A Spotlight on the Ballet “Sheherazade” *

Oh my gosh, darlings, this is such a lovely, magical ballet and truly encapsulates everything fabulous about dance, music, and stunning visual artistry! You've got the enchanting story of "Sheherazade" - that lovely, storyteller who enthralls the sultan. I’m dreaming about those costumes! So sensual and captivating with that vibrant, dramatic design! It’s so beautifully layered, which gives such a feeling of movement even when the dancers are just standing still! *I wish I had a camera in my time-travelling bag so that I could show you all the magic! *

Speaking of costumes

I was really excited to check out what’s going on in The Metropolitan Opera in New York! I've seen many pictures, but nothing is quite like being there in person. Such a gorgeous palace of artistry, and they even have a beautiful ballet production of “Romeo and Juliet.” It is one of my favourite stories to enjoy! The costumes for it are simply exquisite. I have to admit to spending an afternoon gazing into the glass cases of their amazing collection!

Now, even though I’ve just told you all about these wonderful ballets and amazing designs… I just must go to a performance of “The Sleeping Beauty”! This masterpiece of beauty and elegance will never let you down! I simply cannot wait for a chance to wear my sparkly shoes!

So, that's it for my quick #TutuTuesday dip into 1929!

It's been a delight to share a bit of history with you! Remember, lovelies, it’s a joy to find beautiful clothes and styles to emulate, to get creative and dress up for any occasion!
