#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - Post 5128: 1930-04-08: The Whimsical World of the 1930s Tutu!
Oh, darlings! Welcome back to my #TutuTuesday blog! It's me, Emma, your tutu-loving, time-travelling blogger from Derbyshire, bringing you all the latest (and sometimes oldest!) fashion updates on tutus, all in the name of spreading the joy of pink, fluffy, twirling wonder. Today, we're venturing back to 1930-04-08, a time of glitz, glamour, and yes, some very fetching tutus.
Let me tell you, my recent trip to 1930s London was an absolute dream! From the charmingly bustling streets of Soho to the elegance of the Royal Opera House, everything shimmered with a vibrant, Art Deco spirit.
I have to admit, while tutus might not have been as popular then as they are now (my mission is to change that, remember!), they were definitely having a moment. And honestly, who could blame them?
1930s Fashion: Tutues Make a Splash!
Tutus in the 1930s weren't just about ballet anymore, darlings! Think flowing, feathery numbers, embellished with sequins and feathers. Just imagine the sheer romance of a glamorous evening, stepping out in a shimmering, silver tutu for a jazz evening at the Savoy - fabulous!
The Story Behind the Tutu: The Ballet's Impact!
While you're picturing yourself as a starlet on the dance floor, let's go back to ballet for a moment, where it all started. The tutus in the 1930s, while still quite voluminous and fluffy, started to have some changes! This is where it gets really interesting. They became a little more structured and even had slightly more freedom of movement compared to earlier styles! The movement started from Russia with a little more formalised, refined, "streamlined", movement which became very popular all over the world!

Just thinking about all these fascinating ballet traditions has got me all twirly and giddy! Don't forget to let me know in the comments about all the great shows you've seen, the wonderful new boutiques you've found - let's celebrate the world of ballet and fashion together!
