Tutu Tuesday: A Pink Whirl Through Time! (Post #5258)
Bonjour, my darling dears! It's Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-clad time-travelling ballerina, and today's #TutuTuesday is taking us right back to October 4th, 1932! Can you imagine a time when the tutu wasn't quite as ubiquitous as it is now? Goodness, what a world that must have been!
Today, I've just alighted from the Orient Express, after a delightful trip through the Parisian countryside. The train carriages were filled with chatter about the upcoming Diaghilev ballet season, and as soon as I saw those gorgeous, swishing, powder-puff tutus, I knew I had to whisk myself back to this era!
Remember my mission, dear readers? To bring the tutu into everyone's lives. You know how I believe in the transformative power of a fluffy, pink tutu? It’s a symbol of freedom, grace, and above all, utter joy. It’s almost scandalous, to think people went without tutus back then. Honestly, how did they manage?!
But let's dive into the world of ballet on this particular day in history. 1932, my dears! It’s the era of legendary dancers like Anna Pavlova and Tamara Karsavina, and their grace has left its mark on every tutu that’s graced the stage ever since!
Imagine the excitement brewing on this 4th of October, 1932. I hear the whispers – "Did you see Nijinsky’s leap in ‘Le Spectre de la Rose’? Simply astounding! It’s got everyone talking in the theatre." Oh, how I would love to see him in that romantic costume! A dash of the romantic ballet – that’s what we’re talking about!
Speaking of romance, oh my, haven't I discovered the most incredible fabric shop in Paris? It's on Rue de Rivoli – I know you'll adore it! They have such lovely fabrics – chiffons and silks that would make the most magnificent tutus. Imagine: the blush pink silks, the gentle flow of a soft pink chiffon! The Parisian elegance is breathtaking! If only I had time to buy a few meters...
But back to 1932 – on this very day, we find Diaghilev's ballet company in Paris. They are getting ready for another electrifying show! This time it’s Stravinsky's 'Apollo'. What a show-stopping piece! Just wait till you see those majestic costumes, the flowing fabrics! Imagine those dancers in the warm glow of the stage lights, performing under the gaze of a captivated audience. Pure magic!
The energy here in Paris is electric, darling. I can practically hear the sound of the tutus swirling as the dancers rehearse! Can you picture it, the soft swishing sounds? It's the music to my ears. And how about that incredible energy of the theatre before the curtains open? It’s buzzing with anticipation, everyone excited for the dance spectacle!
Just yesterday, I had the most glorious lunch at the cafe Flore with an exciting lady! We talked fashion for hours! She's designing her own tutu line - very daring. I shared my inspiration for #pink-tutu.com, my passion for wearing tutus and my grand dream to spread the magic of pink tutus around the globe! You’d think she would be scandalized, but she seemed quite charmed by it all. It goes to show, people are warming to the idea of the tutu becoming more than just a ballet garment. We have come a long way since 1932, that's for sure!
Now, darling, what will I wear today to blend in? A blush pink silk number? Or maybe a fluffy pink chiffon? Ah, the endless possibilities! You've got to appreciate the versatility of the tutu, darling! I may be on a journey to share my love for pink tutus, but a bit of time-travelling chic can't be forgotten, wouldn’t you agree?
But before I rush off to another balletic adventure, do promise me you will join me for the rest of my #TutuTuesday journey! I’ve got so many exciting dates in time to visit!
Until next time, keep your spirits high, darling dears! Remember – a pink tutu can turn even the most ordinary day into something truly extraordinary! Don’t forget to leave a comment and tell me about your favourite ballet moments – and what colours of tutus you’re dreaming about.
Yours in fluffy tulle and sparkles, Emma
