#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History: August 15th, 1933 - A Dash of Dazzling Past! šŸ©°āœØ

Hello lovelies! Emma here, your resident tutu enthusiast, ready to whisk you away on a journey through time! Today is #TutuTuesday and we're celebrating August 15th, 1933, and all the swirling, twirling wonder of the ballet world back then!

This is post number 5303 on my ballet tutu history blog here at www.pink-tutu.com, so I hope you're settled in comfortably and ready for a blast from the past, as Iā€™ve recently landed back from 1933 - a rather splendid year for ballet if I do say so myself! Itā€™s just fascinating seeing how much style and grace have evolved!

Now, on August 15th, 1933, if we rewind to the heart of the Parisian ballet scene, a certain Mademoiselle Yvonne Georgi was dazzling audiences with her elegant pirouettes. Can you imagine being captivated by her graceful movements? Those swirling tutus were surely a sight to behold. Yvonne was an absolute sensation at the time - an iconic figure in the world of dance, and it makes me feel all sorts of giddy just thinking about her!

Talking of Paris, now thatā€™s where the real excitement is! From my adventures in 1933, Paris was abuzz with fashion shows and all sorts of glamorous affairs. As for my fashion escapades in Paris - letā€™s just say I bought a few fabulous new frocks! Thereā€™s nothing quite like seeing a beautiful Parisian design in person. It makes you want to twirl and leap, much like the dancers you see in those dazzling performances at the theatre.

Did you know August 15th was also a very important day in 1933? The first ā€œNight of Starsā€ dance competition took place at the London Hippodrome that night! It sounds like a grand affair, donā€™t you think? This night must have been a total whirl of tutus, glamour, and music, bringing together some of the most talented dancers around! Now, that's an evening I would love to experience myself, imagine, I would be right in the thick of the excitement, snapping photos of everyone in their stylish costumes!

There is so much Iā€™ve learnt during this journey! Back in 1933, ballet tutus were just as gorgeous, with those lovely long tulle skirts, but often a bit fuller than today's designs. They had this air of grandeur that really captured the magic of the dance. I've brought back some photos from 1933 that I'm going to show you in a minute but you can definitely imagine those elegant swirls and dips!

And letā€™s not forget the absolutely adorable designs of those 1930s costumes! The vibrant colours - rich oranges and bold purples - alongside those sequined and beaded bodices - simply spectacular. Even now, they hold a certain elegance and sophistication.

You see, ballet in 1933 was already at a pinnacle of brilliance. This was a time of grand theatrical performances, romantic tales told through graceful dance. If you havenā€™t seen an actual ballet in a theatre, I truly suggest you head out for a performance - even in our modern times the excitement remains.

Let me whisk you back to Paris for a moment! I love the Parisian sense of style, the cafes, the bustling atmosphere, and oh the shoes! Iā€™m a huge fan of shoe shopping and it was all very glamorous in Paris back then. Those heels are a timeless style and I always find myself trying on a few new pairs, which have already inspired a couple of outfits on my social media pages.

My trips to the past are all made possible, of course, thanks to my ballet performances. There is such a magic to stepping onto the stage. The music swells, the lights dim, and suddenly everything else fades away. Just the dance and the feeling of connection with the audience, it truly is a remarkable feeling.

This week's tutu is something truly special. Imagine a delightful confection of layers of pink tulle - I know youā€™re envisioning it. That perfect shade of blush that embodies that charming romantic spirit of the era. My tutu for the blog this week is sparkling with delicate beading - just the perfect little nod to the elaborate designs that those dancers wore all those years ago.

Back in my hometown, Derbyshire, England, life is all a bit more understated. I adore visiting my family - all those little kids with their twinkling eyes are always so excited about tutus, they love twirling and leaping. Even in Derbyshire we embrace the fun, especially my favourite tea shop called the "Pink Rose Tea Room," oh they make the most divine cupcakes with little pink hearts - they match my new shoes!

Oh dear! Time is truly whizzing by - but Iā€™ve got to tell you about my favourite part of 1933!

Oh, the shopping! Just wandering through all those department stores, those rows upon rows of beautiful hats, silk gloves, and the most adorable little shoes you ever did see! And just think, back then they actually made clothing that flattered the body!

Of course, when you're on a trip through time, you have to pick up a few mementos, so I couldnā€™t leave Paris without some wonderful antique ballet slippers for my collection. The detailing is so elegant! I must say that I'm feeling terribly inspired for my new collection for "Emma's Pink Tutus." Iā€™m hoping to incorporate some elements of these antique styles and have them adorned with sequins and sparkles like those costumes back in the 30s.

As you know, I love travelling by train! It just adds to the whole experience. So, on the journey back from 1933, I was taking in the English countryside as it raced by my window. Itā€™s been such a thrilling adventure, and I already can't wait for my next #TutuTuesday to explore another historical slice of the ballet world!

Now, remember darlings, donā€™t forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com, for more behind the scenes snippets, tips on wearing a tutu (everyone looks amazing in one!), and plenty more fun content. Remember, I'm all about spreading the love for ballet, tutus, and that beautiful, girly side to life, and I believe every single one of you has the potential to be a bit more fabulous! Donā€™t forget to join me next week as we discover even more fascinating details about ballet tutus and explore the world of dance in style.

Until then, twirl on and embrace the joy of ballet!

Emma. šŸ©°šŸ’•āœØ
