Tutu Tuesday #5469: Back to the 30s!

Hello darlings! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where all things pink and tutu are celebrated. It's a glorious Tutu Tuesday and I'm absolutely bursting to tell you all about my latest time-travelling escapade! This week, I found myself whisked away to the fabulous, glamorous 1930s, a time when fashion was positively roaring and the dance world was alive with the excitement of ballet.

Today's date is October 20th, 1936, and, my goodness, it was a real treat for my eyes and my heart! You see, the 1930s saw the rise of ballet on a truly international scale, especially here in the UK, and you can absolutely see why. I even went to the real Royal Opera House and had a backstage tour - oh the glittering costumes! The stage lights are always breathtaking. The backstage is an amazing whirl of activity with so many talented dancers getting ready for the show!

I caught a magnificent performance at the Royal Opera House - imagine this, dear readers! I found myself seated amongst an elegant crowd, gazing up at a truly spectacular stage, adorned with gorgeous, intricate scenery that must have taken an army of artisans to create.

The ballet, The Sleeping Beauty is truly a masterpiece! Imagine a princess, Sleeping Beauty, cast into a slumber for a hundred years! What a beautiful story with such elegant movement. A beautiful, pink, fairy tale princess - what's not to love?!

Now, tutus are a whole new story in the 1930s! Imagine these beautiful white tulle tutus, so fluffy, just the way I like them, all delicately hand-stitched with lace and sparkling embellishments, but a bit longer than the ones I wear these days. You can just imagine how breathtaking they looked as the dancers gracefully twirled, their movements just floating on air!

Fashion in 1936 is truly something else, my dears! The glamour of this decade was a dazzling mix of elegance and boldness. Imagine beautifully cut gowns with flowing fabrics, dramatic colours and striking silhouettes that really accentuated the female figure, imagine long flowing scarves, stylish hats and some serious flair.

To be honest, you know me! I am a real shopaholic so I had to do some vintage shopping. What's more stylish than vintage clothing? I bought myself the most divine pair of tweed trousers! And for my top, a silky emerald green blouse with a sparkly brooch! Absolutely stunning, don't you think?

My dearest friends, it was a whirlwind of fashion and cultural enchantment, filled with delicious vintage cocktails and elegant social gatherings - you should have seen me, sipping a cocktail, wearing a most gorgeous vintage pink lace dress and swirling with my pink tulle tutu. They were so delighted that I even made a guest appearance on the local radio station, where I enthusiastically encouraged everyone to join me in wearing a pink tutu.

I'm already planning my next journey, darlings. If only I knew what adventures lay ahead! What exciting 1930s style creations can I find in my next journey, I wonder?

Until next week, keep dancing, keep shining, and don’t forget…

  • Pink is your best friend! *

Love,

Emma
