#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: A Blast from the Past! (Post 5579)

Hello my gorgeous twirling friends!

It's Tuesday, and you know what that means… it's time to travel through the magical world of Ballet Tutu History! Today, I'm taking us back to the 29th of November, 1938. Put on your dancing shoes, grab a cup of Earl Grey tea, and get ready for a fabulous journey!

London, My Darling London!

Oh, wouldn't you just love to have been at the Royal Opera House on this very date? It's the most glamorous spot in all of London, and the birthplace of countless legendary performances. I'm imagining a glittering chandelier, plush velvet seats, and an air of hushed anticipation. Now, imagine those amazing ballerinas – think graceful leaps, perfectly executed fouettés, and a sea of sparkling tutus! Swoon!

This date in 1938 would have been buzzing with exciting events! Just imagine a glittering night of ballet and a backstage world bustling with talent. I'm absolutely sure that my beloved tutus were dazzling under the spotlight, fluttering and swirling as gracefully as the dancers themselves. The whole night would have been absolutely breathtaking.

But What About The Fashion, Dear Reader?

Speaking of glamour, 1938 was a magical era for fashion. Picture this – slim, elegant silhouettes, sleek fabrics, and a touch of whimsy! We were rocking the Art Deco influence in a big way – think sharp geometric designs and flowing fabrics like crepe, chiffon and georgette. The Parisian designers were absolutely killing it – and I'm dreaming of a divine Dior or Balmain piece that's perfectly paired with a delicate ballet inspired piece, a little touch of tulle, perhaps? Pure magic!

My favourite outfit of all? It would have been a vibrant crimson or turquoise dress with an intricately beaded bodice, paired with sheer black tights and stylish, kitten-heeled shoes. My head would be adorned with a fascinator – the more extravagant the better, of course! But, wouldn't you know it, it wouldn't be complete without my signature touch… a whisper-light pink tutu. Can't imagine going out without one!

Oh, To Be There...

Think of it, 1938, bustling with life. I just know I'd be dashing about the London streets, window-shopping for the latest fashion at Liberty or Fortnum and Mason, grabbing a delightful afternoon tea with my dear friend, and then dashing to the ballet performance for an unforgettable evening of dance! Can't you just picture the vibrant mix of colours, the laughter, the joy of ballet and the excitement in the air?

Travel with Me, my Tutu Tribe!

This date in 1938 reminds us of the timeless power of beauty and elegance that shines through time. It's the perfect time to twirl and be inspired by the history of ballet and the glamorous, creative era of fashion! And who knows? Maybe our journey to this point will inspire some fantastic new Tutu designs... Think a vintage inspired tutu with delicate layers of chiffon and sparkling embellishments? Or a bolder style, maybe with an asymmetrical cut or even some dramatic fringe? My darling tutus are always changing, and I simply cannot wait to see what the future holds.

Until next week, my darlings. Don't forget to get twirling, and remember - even in the most extraordinary adventures, there's always room for a little bit of pink.

Stay stylish!

Emma xoxo
