#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - 7th May 1940! 🩰🌸

Hello my darling tutu-lovers! Welcome back to another edition of #TutuTuesday, your weekly dose of all things tutus, history, and of course, plenty of pink! πŸ’– Today, we're travelling back to the 7th May 1940! Imagine that - my latest adventure brings me to a time where the world is a bit uncertain, but dance and fashion are still shining bright, even in the face of some gloomy times.

You know, there's just something about a vintage tutu that takes you straight back to a bygone era, doesn't there? So grab your favourite cuppa, put on your finest pink frock (perhaps with a touch of tulle!), and settle in as I take you on a journey through the glorious world of ballet and tutus in 1940.

Fashion Focus:

Fashion back in 1940 was definitely a little bit different, wouldn't you agree? Remember the World's Fair in New York that year? They showcased some truly unique styles. Fashionistas were sporting full skirts and fitted jackets, sometimes with a splash of colour but often opting for more neutral tones.

Did you know that shoes played a huge part in the 1940s fashion scene? You had your high-heeled shoes for fancy affairs and then, for more everyday occasions, they'd often sport those iconic flat shoes - we all love a bit of comfy elegance, right?! Speaking of elegance, I recently purchased the most gorgeous 1940s dress - it's a beautiful, blush pink tea dress with the most delicate ruffles. You should have seen me twirling in it! 🌸

But for me, my heart still belongs to the dance world. 🩰 You see, tutus have always been a beacon of hope, reminding us that even during challenging times, beauty and grace can still flourish.

Tutu Twirls Through Time:

Speaking of tutus, my darlings, today's trip wouldn't be complete without exploring the world of ballet in 1940. It's a time when ballets like Giselle and Swan Lake were absolutely captivating audiences! Imagine, a world where tutus graced the stage in all their elegant glory, with dancers bringing those timeless stories to life. The grand and sweeping tulle skirts really capture the magic of classic ballet - something that always sets my heart aflutter!

And let's not forget the Royal Ballet, who were going strong in London even during these troubled times. They are the most remarkable performers and their performances still have me swooning every time! If you ever have the chance to see one of their shows, you must grab a ticket. You'll thank me later, my lovely tutus! πŸ’–

A Pink Tutu For Every Occasion! πŸ’–

My darling tutu-lovers, you'll be happy to know that today's exploration has brought me an incredible piece of information - pink tutus were making a statement in 1940! Now, let's not get carried away here - there might not have been an abundance of bright bubblegum pink like you might find today, but they were beginning to appear. I imagine there was a soft rose pink that popped up from time to time.

Isn't that just amazing? I am always on the hunt for new colours and designs, but let's be honest - my favourite hue will always be pink. That's just my signature, isn't it? A splash of vibrant pink just elevates everything, don't you agree? πŸ’—

Train Travel, Tutu Dreams:

To travel back to the 7th May 1940, I had to take a beautiful train ride. Now, train travel is something I always enjoy. It's just so calming and relaxing. The rhythmic rumble of the train, the fleeting scenes outside the window, it’s a perfect combination for getting creative juices flowing! And don't even get me started on the charming little cafes at train stations – my kind of afternoon pick-me-up, wouldn't you agree? πŸ’–

I always feel like I'm travelling in a romantic novel when I take the train. The plush seats, the gentle swaying, and, of course, a perfectly fitting, pink tutu - all of it makes it feel so special.

But don't worry, you won't be seeing this tutu-obsessed blogger in anything but my pink outfit - no matter how many miles I travel through time! 😊

Ballet Shows: My Source of Time Travel Funding:

Of course, all these exciting adventures are only possible thanks to the amazing world of ballet. It's my passion, it's my muse, and it's my source of income. Let me tell you, it's not easy time travelling – it's not all glamorous glitz and glamour, as you might imagine! πŸ˜… I often fund my trips by performing at local ballets and, occasionally, larger events!

My fellow ballet-lovers, you see, being a ballerina and a time traveller isn’t easy, it takes passion and determination to balance the demands of my two favourite things. However, the thrill of visiting a bygone era - especially the amazing fashion and dance scene - makes it all worth it! 😊

So my lovely tutu enthusiasts, I hope you enjoyed another magical edition of #TutuTuesday! As always, I'm ready to take any questions you have! Until next week, may your days be filled with twirls, grace, and of course, a generous dose of pink! πŸ’–

Love,

Emma, your friendly tutu-loving blogger from Derbyshire! www.pink-tutu.com Post number: 5654
