#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: 1943-12-28 - The Tutu Makes a Wartime Statement!

Hello my gorgeous tutus! Welcome back to my #TutuTuesday blog on www.pink-tutu.com. Today, we're travelling through time (on a steam train, of course! Nothing says chic like a first class compartment) all the way to 1943-12-28 - the 28th December 1943, to be precise! - and it's a day filled with tutus, history and the inspiring resilience of the ballet world during the Second World War.

This is blog post number 5844. If you've missed some, there's always a fab selection at www.pink-tutu.com. Now, where were we? Ah, yes, the ballet.

The world is a bit of a muddle right now, but there's always space for grace. Ballet, like a twirling ballerina, refuses to be defeated, even amidst conflict. Remember the last post on how, during the war, ballerinas like Margot Fonteyn (oh, she's a true inspiration) took on extra roles to keep the ballet companies afloat?

On December 28th, 1943, ballet took center stage at The Royal Opera House (fancy, isn't it?) in Covent Garden, London. And guess what? The audience was ready for the spectacle of beautiful dancers in their most beautiful tutus, their elegant lines a breathtaking escape from the gloom. They've just performed 'Giselle,' a romantic ballet set in a world far away from bombing raids and rationed sugar, allowing audiences to enter a world of hope, magic, and, of course, a wonderful fluffy tutu!

It's a fascinating glimpse into ballet during wartime, isn't it? The world may be facing struggles, but art and beauty still shine through, like a glimmer of pink on a stormy day!

And while we're on the subject of pink, did I tell you about the darling new tulle I found last week? A glorious, billowing pastel pink, with the lightest touch of sparkle - it's simply dreamy, perfect for a ballet-themed tea party. Oh, my lovely tutus, you wouldn't believe the fabulous finds I discovered in London yesterday! A new little pink tutu, some beautiful pink ballet shoes with diamante details and a darling little beret with feathers. And not to mention, the best vintage dress with a huge bow at the back I found tucked away on a back street - pink, of course, and perfect for my next performance.

Speaking of performances, my upcoming show is going to be simply divine! My latest ballet creation "The Pink Parade" features all of the elegance and drama of classical ballet, but with a whimsical twist. It's a tribute to how even in tough times, you can still dream big and create beautiful things. My costumes, are naturally, inspired by all my favourite pink shades and are already sparking some delightful gossip! It's going to be a sight to behold, with delicate pink tutus twirling, shimmering in the spotlight. Oh, darling, you absolutely have to come!

Right, I have a feeling London is about to welcome in 1944 in true theatrical fashion. After all, what is New Year's Eve without a little sparkle, a few elegant swirls and of course, a splash of pink tutu-wearing magic? Itโ€™s truly an elegant time for all!

Remember to keep sparkling, darling tutus, and don't forget to come visit www.pink-tutu.com! Let's continue to keep ballet alive with a touch of pink, and remember, the world's a better place when everyone is wearing a pink tutu!

Until next #TutuTuesday, I'm signing off.

Your dearest, Emma x

P.S. Donโ€™t forget to tag your photos #PinkTutu, I love to see all of you gorgeous tutus embracing pink!
