Tutu Tuesday: #5932 - A Pink & Pretty Post-War Peek!
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com for another Tutu Tuesday!
Today, we're whisking ourselves back to 4th September 1945 โ can you believe it? It feels like a lifetime ago! The world was just starting to breathe a sigh of relief after the war, and even here in the heart of ballet, in Paris, there was a sense of joy and hope in the air.
As I step out of the vintage train carriage, right here at the Gare de Lyon station, it's like stepping into a scene from a French film! The sunshine is dappling through the leaves of the chestnut trees lining the streets, and the aroma of freshly baked bread fills the air. You just can't beat Parisian charm, can you?
Now, you'll be delighted to know, even in post-war Paris, tutus were still all the rage! It's no surprise really, because dancing is like a little bit of magic, a reminder that even in difficult times, there's beauty and joy to be found.
This evening, I'm heading off to a performance of Swan Lake at the beautiful Opรฉra Garnier โ the iconic theatre, and a true symbol of the grandeur and elegance of Paris.
Of course, no visit to the opera is complete without a little fashion inspiration, and let me tell you, the couture in post-war Paris is simply divine. The French ladies have been experimenting with more relaxed and flowing silhouettes. You'll see exquisite evening dresses, full of life and movement, crafted in luxurious silks and chiffons, and oh! those exquisite pastel colours are absolutely divine.
Speaking of colour, Iโve decided to go for my prettiest pink tutu tonight. It has beautiful fluttering layers and sparkles just the right amount of rhinestones to catch the light (of course, all pink!). I feel absolutely glamorous as I skip across the cobbled streets, towards the grand doors of the Opera.
Oh, before I go, remember to check out my lovely pink tutu outfit guide on Pink-Tutu.com with a selection of beautiful pink tutus just for you. Because a girl can never have too many tutus, can she?
Now, off to the opera to see those elegant dancers twirling and swirling in their tutus โ it's going to be pure enchantment!
Don't forget to check back next Tuesday for another Tutu Tuesday, and in the meantime, wear something pink, live your dreams and happy twirling darlings!
Emma xoxo
Bonus! What happened on this date in 1945?
September 4th, 1945, saw a number of significant events take place, including:
- The British Foreign Secretary, Ernest Bevin, warned the Soviet Union of "firm measures" if Soviet troops remained in Iran beyond the agreed date of withdrawal.
- The French Resistance fought against German troops in French Guiana while the French National Liberation Committee in Algiers demanded the complete disarmament of French Vichy authorities in this overseas territory.
Even during the post-war period, ballet still served as a powerful source of inspiration and cultural exchange, bridging nations and giving people hope for a brighter future. The beautiful world of ballet and tutus is indeed a timeless art form, and it continues to captivate us today just as much as it did all those years ago!
