#TutuTuesday: A Blast From the Past - November 19, 1946

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, and today is #TutuTuesday! This week we're whisking back in time, all the way to November 19th, 1946. Can you imagine? I can already picture the wonderful, whimsical fashion, and my, oh my, I simply must have that feather boa I saw at the vintage shop last week - it would look absolutely divine paired with this tutu, wouldn't it?

London Calling!

I'm so thrilled to be in London this week! The energy here is truly electrifying. You can feel it buzzing around you, from the chic coffee shops filled with chattering ladies to the grand theaters hosting incredible ballet performances. Now, we all know tutus are having a bit of a resurgence in popularity at the moment, but imagine a world where they are EVERYWHERE! Back in 1946, tutus were mostly confined to the stage, and even then, they were far from the flamboyant masterpieces we know and love today.

A Peek into 1946: A Glimpse into Tutu History

Imagine the sheer elegance of Margot Fonteyn in the ethereal tutus of the era! This was the golden age of the classic ballerina. While those glorious full-length tutus you see at the Royal Opera House today were not yet the norm, there was a certain simplicity and elegance to the styles of the time. They were graceful, like a swan's down, yet still commanded respect with their sheer, diaphanous beauty. Imagine - layers upon layers of soft, delicate tulle! You could almost float away.

Time Traveling Tutu-Enthusiast!

How I got to London for this amazing adventure, you might ask? Well, I happen to have a little secret, darlings. I can travel through time! It's not something I tell everyone, but every week I pop into a few different times to study up on the fascinating evolution of tutus - you have to be prepared for this sort of job, don't you? Of course, I fund these adventures through my own performance. Why, just last night, I danced in a most glorious ballet adaptation of “The Nutcracker!” We have had quite the crowd - London's high society! It was positively brilliant! There were so many gorgeous women there dressed up for the ballet, and don't even get me started on the outfits of the ladies from Covent Garden - oh the beautiful hats!

A Day Out in London:

London truly is a gem. So today, my little tutu-loving butterflies, we're going on a magical adventure! Just picture us - me, in a perfectly pink tutu, naturally, and you, following my lead through the city's enchanting streets. Today we're going shopping for beautiful accessories! Think feathers, pearls, sparkling sequins, and ribbons that dance in the breeze. A bit of shimmer is essential, even back in 1946, darling! Don't worry, I won’t let you leave without your own tutu and some extra fluff!

After shopping, it's off to the Royal Opera House. I hear there's a beautiful performance of “The Sleeping Beauty,” a classic. Now, I haven’t had the privilege of seeing the grand, glittering productions we know today, but I imagine the elegant stagecraft and the graceful tutus are worth every penny. I mean, a lovely ballerina should look nothing less than spectacular when dancing under the starry ceiling, wouldn't you say?

Spreading the Tutu Love!

Do you know what my dream is? A world where every little girl, every lady, everyone wears a pink tutu! I know it may seem crazy, but wouldn’t it be absolutely glorious to see the streets, parks, and theaters overflowing with those bouncy, billowing tulle creations? Can you imagine how much joy it would bring? Isn't it time we all danced to our own rhythm?

Oh my dear reader! That's it for this week's #TutuTuesday - keep dancing and dreaming and don’t forget, the only limit to the pink tutu revolution is your imagination!

See you next week, darlings!

Much Love,

Emma
