#TutuTuesday: A Blast From The Past! 🩰💖 (Post 6169)

Hello lovelies!

It's Emma here, your resident tutu enthusiast, and I'm back with another dive into the wonderful world of ballet history, specifically #TutuTuesday! I hope you're ready for a trip through time, because today, we're travelling back to the glorious era of March 21st, 1950!

Now, grab your teacups and settle in for a little fashion fiesta. It's going to be fabulously frivolous!

Imagine it: The air buzzes with excitement. It’s the day of a dazzling new ballet production in a theatre humming with energy. Imagine all the pink tulle – fluffy and beautiful – oh my, it's heavenly! I'm already dreaming of the tutus I'll spot! I can almost feel the crispness of the theatre air and the energy pulsing from the stage as the dancers leap and twirl. Oh, to be transported back in time and experience this magic firsthand!

As I mentioned, this week, I'm stepping back in time to March 21st, 1950, a year brimming with style, grace and of course, ballerinas! This was the golden age of ballet in some parts of the world – oh, how the dancing and fashion soared!

In Paris, a place I dearly love for its captivating combination of haute couture and charmingly worn ballet traditions, it's the day of a brand-new, much anticipated ballet production – it's "La Princesse de Clèves," with the legendary Roland Petit. It's quite a prestigious show, the kind that gets all the well-heeled fashionistas buzzing. Imagine the hats, the jewellery, the silk gowns – and, of course, the tulle, oh so much tulle! I imagine my fellow ballet enthusiasts adorned in all sorts of lovely costumes - from extravagant evening dresses, all swirling and floating with elegant layers, to, of course, perfectly fitted tutus – you can bet I'll be spotting one or two fabulously vibrant, shimmering ones on this grand occasion. It was simply the place to be seen, you see.

In the UK, especially London, our capital, where you'd spot more theatrical magic than you could shake a sparkly wand at, there would also have been something incredible going on. Sadler's Wells is renowned for its ballets. I just picture a beautiful set for "The Sleeping Beauty," oh, how I'd have loved to witness that beauty live.

And for my Derbyshire friends, the heart of The Derby Playhouse, is always a fabulous choice for a grand evening out. This place really knows how to host an elegant evening out - I bet it's buzzing with exciting, beautiful performances for all to enjoy! It wouldn’t be surprising to catch a thrilling ballet show taking place there this evening too!

Wherever you were, March 21st, 1950, would have been a great day for a touch of ballerina-esque style. A stylish pink tutu would have perfectly captured the spirit of this magnificent time. Pink was a fabulous and very popular colour - just like today, a touch of pink was a great way to brighten up your wardrobe – oh, pink has truly stood the test of time!

I'd love to have seen this enchanting night, not just for the dancing, which I can only imagine would have been stunning, but for the costumes and fashion too. Imagine, lovely tulle, perfectly-tailored dresses with glamorous cuts, and vibrant jewellery…oh, just divine. Perhaps I can get my time travel machine ready, maybe even get my friends together for a little theatrical night, I just love the feeling of shared laughter and wonder. It’s magic!

Oh, did I mention shopping? You'd be spoilt for choice! Imagine the elegant, perfectly tailored suits on display in London! And the sheer joy of selecting a stylish hat to perfectly match the colour of your chosen tutu - I’m sure a charming pink beret would have looked rather stylish too, and not to mention the elegant shoes!

Of course, after a visit to a grand ballet show, I always fancy a delicious supper and a touch more socialising. I wonder, maybe some oysters in Paris or a lovely meal at one of the new modern eateries in London, or even something a little more homey back in Derbyshire. Maybe a little something like a perfectly delicious, home-baked Victoria sponge? Oh, the possibilities are truly limitless when one is living their best ballerina-chic life.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my peek into the vibrant fashion and style of March 21st, 1950! If you're a ballet aficionado, fashion fan or just looking for some tutu-inspired ideas for a chic outfit, remember to embrace your inner dancer.

Now, I have to rush off to gather my travel supplies. Perhaps a couple of new tutus and some extra sparkly shoes might be necessary! And of course, I’ll be sure to have a perfectly pink tulle outfit ready to slip into! Just remember – always keep a touch of pink in your life, and never stop twirling! And don't forget to follow www.pink-tutu.com! See you next #TutuTuesday, lovely people!

P.S. Did I mention I just love traveling by train? Oh, I do simply adore the elegant carriages and the soft hum of the journey!

With love,

Emma 💖🩰
