TutuTuesday: Back in Time, Backstage and Behind the Seams! (Post #6228)
Hello, darlings! Emma here, your tutu-loving time traveler, back again for another #TutuTuesday adventure! Today, we're whisking ourselves back to the 8th of May, 1951. Imagine a time when tutus were the epitome of elegance and grace, their delicate tulle fluttering like whispers on the breeze, capturing the heart of every ballerine. Oh, how I yearn for that era of pure ballet beauty!
As I travel back in time, the first thing that greets me is the vibrant, fragrant bustle of Covent Garden in London! I’m absolutely thrilled to be in London! London, the home of the Royal Opera House, is like a tutu dreamland – all plush velvet seating and dazzling chandeliers! The air is buzzing with anticipation for a magnificent evening of ballet, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.
So, what were ballet lovers indulging in on this particular day? Well, today we have an enchanting production of “Giselle,” an absolute ballet classic! This masterpiece, first performed in 1841, weaves a story of romantic sorrow and captivating dances – perfect for any lover of ballet!
Speaking of romanticism, can we talk about the glorious tutus in “Giselle?” Those diaphanous, tiered tulle creations, so exquisitely constructed – they’re like clouds floating through the air! The costumes, oh the costumes! Think pale pink, blush tones, whispers of ivory – pure ballet enchantment! And those graceful pointe shoes? You can hear the soft clicking as they glide across the stage – utterly captivating!
My favourite part of this trip back in time is exploring the world of ballet behind the scenes. I'm off to have a little peek at the dancers preparing for tonight’s performance. Picture rows of beautiful tulle skirts, shimmering with delicate hand-stitching – I’m feeling quite the giddy excitement as I step backstage! Can you imagine the artistry involved in creating those tutus – such skill and dedication to detail!
For today’s post, I’ve whipped up a little pink-tutu-inspired afternoon tea, perfect for any aspiring ballerina – it’s all about pastels and dainty delicacies. Think dainty finger sandwiches, mini pink meringues, delicate lavender macaroons and, of course, a pot of freshly brewed Earl Grey tea! The whole afternoon is as graceful and elegant as a ballerina in her swan costume!
But before I go, I can’t resist a quick jaunt to Liberty, London's fashion emporium, a truly spectacular shopping destination! With a little nudge from my pocket watch and a quick skip-jump through time, I find myself amid exquisite silk and velvet. There’s a particular velvet I spy, the shade of a blushing rose – divine! This would look amazing sewn into a new pink tutu, don’t you think? It would be a perfect match for my tutu dress, made of the softest tulle imaginable – pink, of course! My pink tutu wardrobe has just received a welcome addition!
Let’s recap – a journey through time, an enchanting evening at the ballet, afternoon tea fit for a ballerina, and a trip to the fashion haven of London! I feel utterly blessed. It's a delightful journey through the past and the present, all tied together by my one true love: the magical world of the tutu!
But this is just the beginning. So much to explore, so many tutus to wear! Until next week, my darlings! Don't forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com for more #TutuTuesday delights. Don't forget, the world is a prettier place in pink!
With all my ballerina love,
