#TutuTuesday: A Glimpse into the Past! ๐ฉฐ๐ (Post #6723)
Hello, my darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu!
Today's #TutuTuesday is a bit special! We're travelling back in time - imagine! A whole century ago, can you believe it? November 1st, 1960, to be precise. I'm getting so excited, my toes are practically tapping!
I've packed my most glamorous pink tutu for the occasion - it's all sequins and ruffles, fit for a proper vintage queen. A touch of old Hollywood, don't you think? Now, let's take a peek into the ballet world of 1960!
A Ballet World Full of Grace and Elegance!First off, I need to mention this! Tutu's haven't really changed much. Imagine this! I can pop on my modern, glittery, pink tutu, hop in my time machine, travel to 1960, and fit right in at the ballet! It's fabulous. They still favoured soft tulle and flowing lines. But they added a bit of dramatic volume here and there - just like my current obsession with oversized skirts! I've spotted these beauties on the stages, shimmering and twirling like dreams. And yes, the colours! They were already favouring bright, bold hues back then! What a fabulous age, my dears!
Now, let's dive into what the big ballet scene was like. Ballet companies were already a huge deal! And remember all those amazing ballerinas, like Margot Fonteyn, Natalia Makarova and Carla Fracci? Well, they were gracing the stages around this very time, thrilling the audiences.
Imagine being able to see them dance live! A true gift, I tell you. Luckily, my performances fund my travel - you just have to find the perfect balance! My favourite part is definitely the costumes, even back then they were fabulous.
On this particular day, 1960, it's a real treat for the world of ballet as the American Ballet Theatre kicks off its annual New York Season with a grand performance. How exciting is that? The excitement is contagious! And guess who will be the belle of the ball - the one and only, our beloved Margot Fonteyn. A dream come true!
Speaking of dreams, you know I absolutely adore exploring the history of our beloved ballet. So I took a little trip back in time - again! To the year 1910! Oh, my darling's it was truly divine!
A Trip back in time... 1910 - Tutu time!As I waltzed down the cobbled streets, a vision of pink perfection ( naturally in my very special 1910's inspired, feather adorned, pink tutu), I noticed it. The most stunning Victorian building - an actual, real, theatre. Just the sight of it filled me with excitement. A sign emblazoned with a gold 'The Ballet Theatre'. And then, I noticed a familiar, beloved scent - the faint, heavenly fragrance of freshly starched tutus and polish. A sense of pure magic filled the air, my dears.
Stepping inside, I felt a wave of excitement - this place buzzed with an energy only true dance lovers like ourselves can understand. Everywhere I looked there were glimpses of fabulous costumes, feathers, and satin - oh the beautiful colours! Even though I could only imagine how gorgeous a 1910 performance would have been, I just knew that the passion and artistry that they embodied is exactly what inspires me to wear my tutu proudly!
Of course, one cannot forget the importance of music, now can one? As the glorious sounds of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" and Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" echoed throughout the theatre, my mind took me on a magical journey, transporting me through the world of classical ballet!
A Timeless World: Ballet - The Eternal Love for Movement! The point of this, my darlings, is to emphasize how the essence of ballet never truly changes. Just like a perfectly designed, soft, and sparkly tutu, ballet is an art form that evolves beautifully, and continues to enchant and delight us, generation after generation.
My biggest passion? The timeless ballet - a symphony of beauty, grace and athleticism, forever etched in my heart. Ballet truly makes a magical journey for the heart, soul and senses. And the very fabric of it is made up of the magical tutus! What better way to celebrate its timeless beauty, its vibrant history, and its ever-present magic, than to rock a tutu and dance with all my heart?
As a Derbyshire lass myself, I can tell you the importance of dancing. It runs in my blood! You know I spend hours going to ballet shows and classes. But I adore street dancing too! As I travel throughout the country and beyond - because ballet knows no boundaries, you know - I even make sure I always look for the best street ballet performances.
There's something incredible about watching professional ballet in a stately London theatre, but that feeling is just as magical watching local talents showcase their dancing skills, often for free! Now, if we can add a pinch of magic, a sprinkle of sunshine, a heap of joy, and all that delicious, twirly delight - then let's not forget a bit of good old pink and a little tutu sparkle, of course! We've got ourselves a truly divine combination that will brighten your day!
My Pink Tutu Dream: Sharing The Magic with the World ๐โจRemember, my darlings, the world is your dance floor! There's absolutely no rule that says tutus have to be kept for the theatre or a ballet studio. Put on a tutu! Embrace it, embrace its joy! Let your soul soar on those fabulous sparkling waves! My dream is for everyone to share in this delightful fashion, and for every day to be #TutuTuesday, because let's face it, tutus are fabulous and magical.
Now, remember, even the most spectacular journey starts with a single step, a single twirl, a single flourish. And who knows? You may just inspire others to follow in your sparkly footsteps. Now go, dance with joy, twirl with happiness, and wear that gorgeous tutu proudly! ๐โจ
See you next #TutuTuesday, my dears! ๐ And remember, the best time to put on a tutu, is ALWAYS! โจ
