Tutu Tuesday: A Whirlwind through the 60s! 🩰✨
Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, darling dears! It's me, your resident pink-loving tutu-enthusiast Emma, back with another #TutuTuesday post, this time whisking you back to the fabulously fabulous 2nd October, 1962! I can almost smell the floral perfume wafting through the air! This is post number 6823, and I'm positively bursting to tell you about the tutus that were gracing stages and boudoirs (and yes, even tea parties!) on this oh-so-stylish date.
My latest time-travelling escapades took me to, where else? Paris, darling! The city that just knows how to wear a tutu, right? It was just as glamorous and romantic as I imagined, the Eiffel Tower sparkling under a Parisian sky, and everyone, everyone, from the elegantly dressed ladies to the charming gents had that je ne sais quoi!
It's hard to believe it was just a few years after the "New Look" of Dior had revolutionized the world of fashion! Imagine - just a few years! And, dear readers, let's just say tutus were positively blooming on stage! I popped into the Opéra Garnier - ah, the opulence! It's not just a building, it's a true ballet cathedral! I was lucky enough to catch “La Bayadère” by Marius Petipa - such vibrant colour, intricate designs, and oh, those stunning tutus! Imagine delicate tulle layered on layers, shimmering in shades of lilac, a touch of emerald green at the hem. So much movement, so much flow.
As the night came to a close, and I strolled out into the starlit night, I felt inspired. These tutus, with their wispy softness and effortless grace, spoke of something so much deeper - they spoke of freedom, expression, and sheer, unadulterated joy!
Fashion & The Frock:
Now, you know I love to talk fashion! Back in 1962, mini skirts were starting to really make a splash! I spied some gorgeous little frocks that had just a hint of a flirty feel. Imagine those worn with ballet flats, or even Mary Janes - they’d be perfect with a floaty pink tutu!
It was a time of playful contrasts, too. Think of those beautiful big hats, with wide, brims - absolutely dreamy! A lovely touch for a ballet party, wouldn't you say?
Time Travelling on Train Tracks:
Speaking of travelling... Oh, the train journey! I do so adore a good train ride, and in those days, there was nothing quite like a steam train gliding through the countryside. It was a grand adventure! Just picture the clack-clack of the wheels against the tracks, and that comforting chug-chug of the engine - simply enchanting! Of course, a touch of pink in my outfit made my travels a touch more flamboyant - my signature pink hat and my trusty pair of gloves!
A Pink-Filled Future:
What a wonderfully whirlwind journey, don’t you agree, my darling readers? I just know that these little details about the wonderful world of ballet and fashion in 1962 have sparked your imaginations! Remember, dear friends, the magic of ballet lies not just in the steps and the music, but also in the way it makes us feel!
Keep on dancing, and remember - don't be afraid to add a touch of pink! Until next Tuesday, stay stylish and full of grace, my loves!
*With love and tutus, *
Emma 💖
