#TutuTuesday: A Blast from the Past! šŸ©°

Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, my darling tutu-loving friends! It's your favourite time of the week - Tuesday, the day for all things tulle! Today I'm travelling back in time again, but this time it's a bit closer to home, to a most fabulous date: 18th February 1964. Get your sequins at the ready! We're going to London!

But First, Some Train Travel:

Speaking of sequins, how divine is this new sparkly top I snagged in a little vintage boutique? It's so perfectly on-trend, wouldn't you agree? Oh, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

This morning, I'm at St. Pancras Station in London, which I have to say, is absolutely breathtaking, even if they have lost the magnificent train shed. It's a symphony of glorious architecture, much like the designs we've seen on some of the most spectacular tutus - strong lines, beautiful shapes, an air of grandeur and history. It's all soā€¦ inspiring, you know? I find inspiration in the most unexpected places!

A Glimpse into London Life:

Now, back to February 18th 1964. The Beatles have just released Can't Buy Me Love, and I bet they'd be rockin' in those sweet 1960s flares they all loved so much - perfect for showing off those killer moves.

Speaking of moves, how do you think ballet dancers in the 1960s would've embraced the mod fashion of the era? A little black mini-tutu, perhaps? We could have a whole "swinging sixties" tutu line! Imagine the excitement!

Anyway, today is a bit chilly but thankfully my favourite pink fur stole kept me cosy while watching the crowds at Londonā€™s Piccadilly Circus. Such a bustling spot! A veritable mix of street performers, commuters and everyone from elegant ladies in hats to dapper men in suits! The vibe here is simply electric. And the fashion? Darling, it's fabulous! So many beautiful ladies and gentlemen in their finest attire! And remember the Beatles are in London recording their new albumā€¦ could they be passing by, think of all the fun and frolickingā€¦

On Stage: Ballet Brilliance

But you know me, nothing beats the magic of a live performance! Luckily, The Royal Ballet is showing Giselle tonight at the Royal Opera House - a ballet favourite from the 1800s still delighting audiences. It's such a captivating story of love, betrayal, and supernatural intrigue. It always makes me reflect on the timeless power of a good story. We might not wear the exact same tutus that dancers did back then, but the emotions they express are just as powerful today. The tutu is such a wonderfully versatile piece. It's ethereal, elegant, and it gives you a real chance to go wild with the fashion!

And the Tut? Oh Darling, The Tutu!

Oh my! I managed to squeeze in a bit of tutu shopping this morning before our adventure today. I just adore that sweet lace and tulle confection I picked up from Madame Claireā€™s shop. It's just divine! With some of those pretty satin ribbons you saw at that fabulous little millinery shop and maybe some fluffy feather boas (canā€™t you just imagine?) and we will have the most stunning ballerina look for tonight's show! Don't you think, darlings?

Let's look to the tutu as a fashion icon. In fact, as this week's #TutuTuesday goes on and we explore the vibrant scene of London, don't forget to tag me on all your posts of your favourite 1960s inspired ballet looks. What fun and beautiful inspiration can you draw from those ā€œSwinging Sixtiesā€? Iā€™m going to love seeing them.

Don't forget to visit our Pink-Tutu website (www.pink-tutu.com) for more fascinating looks from the past, inspiring posts from your favourite fashionistas, and tutorials to create your own tutu dreams! Until next Tuesday, my lovely tutu lovers! Stay twirling!

(PS: I'll be writing more about that Giselle show next week! You donā€™t want to miss it! )
