#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - 22nd September, 1964

Hello my darling dears, it's Emma here from www.pink-tutu.com bringing you another installment of #TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History! It's been a whirlwind of a week - travelling from the glittering halls of the Paris Opera to the bustling heart of London.

Speaking of bustling hearts, wouldn't it be divine to don a tulle masterpiece, grab a delicious éclair from Ladurée, and step onto a cobbled street in Paris, my absolute favourite place for a fashion fix! Imagine swirling those delicate layers of tulle in the autumn air while window shopping at Dior or Chanel! Oh, how utterly delightful it would be!

Anyway, enough about my Paris dreams! Back to our time machine. We're in 1964, my sweet little cherubs. This is such an exciting time for the ballet world - think big, beautiful ballrooms, sparkling chandeliers and opulent sets!

Can you believe, my dears, on this very day in 1964, the Royal Ballet was performing at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London! Isn't that divine? It makes me long for the sweet, sweet sound of those violins and the graceful sway of those perfectly poised dancers! The grandeur of it all just calls to me!

Imagine being wrapped in layers of tulle and stepping onto the stage in a room filled with so many lovely people!

Oh, the ballet has come so far since 1964! Today's tutus are even more intricate, using the lightest and most beautiful fabrics. But honestly, don't get me wrong, I still love those iconic designs of the past, particularly those by the great ballet costumers! Imagine! I adore their craftsmanship. It’s such a wonderful testament to artistry and a true inspiration for aspiring tutu-wearers like myself!

My own wardrobe has seen a real update in 1964, especially with my latest vintage finds! It's been a joy to search those Parisian vintage stores and flea markets for pieces with such fabulous stories to tell. Oh, the little bits of fashion history that I’ve collected! My pink, tulle tutu that I found last week in a little boutique is divine and simply irresistible. The owner even said it once belonged to a famous ballerina! What an honor to wear a piece with such a grand history! I swear, my darlings, I'm already planning my next time-traveling trip to the past! Perhaps next week I’ll hop off to the 1950s. How wonderful it would be to attend a classic ballet performance from that era!

On a side note, what do you think of those big, bright, fabulous bouffant hair styles they're wearing in the sixties? Don't you just adore those dramatic shades of lipstick they all seem to favor? Just divine! I'm completely inspired!

If only we could bring back all that fantastic glamour! So let’s do our bit to bring back the elegance and wonder of these glorious fashion decades! I say, we wear our tutus proudly and dance into the day!

But before I go, remember: Pink tutus, pink lipstick, and big smiles – always remember to be fabulous, my sweet dears!

I'm off to buy more tulle for my newest tutu creation! See you next week for another thrilling #TutuTuesday blog post. Until then, take care, my dears, and spread that joy!
