#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: March 30th, 1965 - The Tutu Takes to the Streets! ๐ฉฐโจ
Hey everyone, it's Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, bringing you another instalment of #TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History! This week we're taking a trip back to March 30th, 1965, and boy, oh boy, were tutus having a moment!
You see, back then, the tutu wasn't just a stage darling; it was creeping into everyday fashion. The iconic Baryshnikov wasn't just captivating audiences with his amazing pirouettes, but the "look" was filtering down to the masses!
I'm talking knee-length tutus, in a dazzling array of colours, making appearances on city streets! ๐คฏ Yes, you heard that right!
Imagine โ a stroll down Bond Street and a flock of ladies gliding past, their fluffy tutus shimmering in the afternoon sun. Now that's what I call style! ๐คฉ
It wasn't just about the tutu, either. The total look involved the classic ballerina bun, which became incredibly chic. Imagine: slicked-back hair with a neat little ballerina bun and a playful peek-a-boo pink tutu... it was the epitome of glamorous fun! โจ
Now, of course, in the fashion-obsessed world of London, everyone was inspired by the iconic Royal Ballet. ๐ I was lucky enough to catch The Nutcracker at Covent Garden that night - an absolute treat! ๐คฉ
The ballerinas, with their breathtaking movements and magnificent tutus, were simply mesmerizing. There's something truly magical about seeing those graceful bodies pirouette across the stage. ๐ซ
And the music, oh my! It was such an explosion of emotion and excitement! I was on the edge of my seat, completely captivated by the beauty of it all. The magic, the energy, it just felt so right! ๐
As a fellow passionate tutu enthusiast, you can only imagine my sheer delight! I'm already dreaming about a 1960s themed ballet performance with a fun little twist. Can you imagine all of us twirling about in beautiful, playful, fluffy tutus?! ๐๐ป
Think pink tutus and poodle skirts, with the sweetest little ballerina bun in place. We'd be channeling those sassy, street-smart ballerinas with their killer sense of style. Oh, the sheer fun and joy of it all! โจ๐
Oh, speaking of fun and joy, did I tell you about my last trip back in time?! I popped by to see Gigi on the Broadway stage! ๐คฉ Oh, what a treat! A lovely story, a sprinkle of drama and even more delicious-looking pastries than The Nutcracker at Covent Garden. It definitely satisfied my sweet tooth and I definitely picked up some new styling tips. ๐ฅฐ
Of course, when I'm travelling through time, a big part of the fun is seeing what shops and boutiques are in each era! In London 1965, I discovered a treasure trove of independent designers crafting the most beautiful, exquisite tutus. ๐ชก๐
Can you even imagine having a tutu handmade by an expert in their field? There's such a dedication and love in the craftsmanship - it's just magic!โจ
I'm seriously thinking of commissioning one for my own collection, just so I can feel the delicate fabrics, the beautiful stitching... oh, the glamour! โจ
And remember, ladies, don't be afraid to break the mould, step out of the box, and express yourselves! Don't just wear a pink tutu; let the tutu define YOU! ๐๐
Be confident. Be brave. Be bold. ๐ฅ
It's time for us all to let our inner ballerinas shine, no matter the occasion! After all, why just wear a tutu when you can be one? ๐
And until next #TutuTuesday, Iโll be reminiscing about those fab, fashion-forward times of March 1965 - where the tutu was king and style ruled! Until next time, darlings! โจ
