Tutu Tuesday: #6961 - A Whirl Through 1965!
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back again from my latest time-travelling adventure. Today's #TutuTuesday takes us back to the vibrant and fashionable year of 1965, a time of fabulous change and excitement!
Now, imagine a world without your trusty smartphone, imagine trying to choose a TV programme to watch with only three channels, and imagine a time before avocado toast was even a thought! This, my lovely lot, is the world we are stepping back into this week!
A Day in 1965:
Picture it, darling - a spring day, sun peeking through the clouds, a gentle breeze whispering through the leaves... we're in London, in a time of cultural revolution and artistic flourish! Fashion was embracing change and modernity, with mini skirts, colourful patterns, and sleek geometric shapes making their way onto the streets. I bet you're picturing me strutting along in my oh-so-pink tutu, blending in like a fluffy pink marshmallow in a kaleidoscope!
This Tuesday was quite a big day in the world of music, if I must say! The Supremes, those fabulously talented singers with their irresistible tunes and shimmering dresses, were making history with their performance on American Bandstand! Can you picture the young ladies, all giggling and dancing, captivated by their fabulous voices? They sure were setting the fashion trends with their bold use of colour and sequins! My, what a time to be alive, wouldn't you agree?
And as a true Londoner, we can't forget the Royal Ballet, a cornerstone of London's cultural landscape! With an exceptional roster of ballerinas like Margot Fonteyn, it is a treasure to be experienced for its captivating artistry and sheer elegance. Can you picture me taking a seat in the auditorium, adorned in my oh-so-pink tulle, my heart filled with admiration? There's simply no finer feeling than watching the grace and artistry of the dancers unfold before you.
But even more fabulous than seeing the Royal Ballet perform, is the shopping! Can you imagine the vibrant and beautiful fabrics that were around at this time? There was such an array of exquisite materials and prints โ you simply had to have them all! Imagine myself scouring London's boutiques, dreaming up delightful designs for a tutu in the softest pink imaginable! My imagination is positively dancing with possibilities!
Oh, and let's not forget the railway journey! That was the way to travel for any true fashionista. Picture it, darling: my pink tutu, floating along in the luxurious carriage, making its way through the English countryside. I am so very thankful that my little time travelling machine keeps me far away from the cramped London Underground!
So darling, what's on your TutuTuesday wish list for the week? It's always lovely to read your suggestions and your comments. Remember, I always have room for another pink tutu-lover!
Until next Tuesday, remember to always embrace the dance of life and never lose sight of your inner ballerina!
Love,
Emma xxx
P.S Did you know that ballet is now more popular than ever before? I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but it truly is a spectacular art form! If you've never tried a class, don't let this Tuesday go by without adding a spot to your schedule!
P.P.S Remember, check out our "About Us" section to see how you can contribute to my Time Travelling Tutu Fund! My aim in life is to get everyone dancing in pink, and I need your help! Each ticket to a show helps to support my research, and gets me closer to travelling back in time! Every penny makes a difference! Let's paint the world pink together, darling!
