#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: 1965-08-17 - The Rise of the Ballerina!

Welcome back to www.pink-tutu.com, my dearest tutu lovers!

It's #TutuTuesday, and today we're swirling back in time to 17th August 1965. Imagine: London, buzzing with life, a day before the August bank holiday. The sun is shining (well, maybe peeking through the clouds, as it does in dear old England) and everyone's preparing for a long weekend. A bit like us, really!

Now, let's talk Tutus, darling. This is where the story really gets interesting! You see, in 1965, ballet was experiencing a true renaissance. Imagine, a time when every little girl dreamt of being a ballerina, where swirling tutus were the epitome of glamour, and every family would gather at the ballet. Oh, what a magical time it was!

So, what's making today so special? Well, 17th August 1965 was the day The Royal Ballet performed 'Giselle' at Covent Garden, and the whole theatre was buzzing!

This is the ballet, darling, that is still a firm favourite for audiences. The tale of Giselle, the young village girl whose heart breaks after discovering her true love is not the peasant she thought him to be - just heartbreakingly beautiful! I simply adore the drama, the exquisite artistry, and let's not forget - the tutus! Swoon!

Let's talk fashion! Just as you and I, my dear readers, delight in our perfectly chosen tutu ensembles, so too did the ballerinas of 1965. Imagine flowing, wispy tulles in the most heavenly shades of pale pink and ivory, a stark contrast to the more rigid designs of earlier eras. The dancers owned those tutus. I just imagine them, each movement a whisper of elegance, their tutus catching the stage lights as they soar through the air. The very essence of femininity, and absolutely divine!

As a true tutu aficionado, I simply adore the tutus worn in Giselle, especially the ones for the Wilis, the vengeful spirit women in the ballet. These were exquisite white, gossamer-thin creations that looked almost otherworldly as they glided and swirled onstage! They still take my breath away! You just have to picture it: soft white clouds of tulle billowing in the air - it's an image to remember!

1965, was a golden age for ballerinas! It was a time when ballet wasn't just for a select few, but a captivating art form adored by people from all walks of life. This, my loves, is what made 17th August 1965 a truly magical day!

And let’s not forget the wonderful performances that we have now with ballerinas on the street! It is incredible to see these amazing talents showing us what ballet is all about! They can often be found at street fairs and outdoor markets! Don't miss the next street show; keep an eye out and you’ll see them showing their talents all around!

But my dear tutu enthusiasts, this isn't the end! This is just one magical day from ballet history, but remember: our love for tutus is ageless and ever-lasting!
