#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History on 1966-06-07

Hello my gorgeous darlings! It's Tuesday, which means it's time for another thrilling journey into the wonderful world of ballet history! 💅🏻🌸✨

I'm Emma, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu-wearing time traveller, and this week, I'm taking us back to 7th June, 1966, a time when the world was dancing to a different beat! I'm absolutely buzzing to share this week's find with you, because this particular date is one of the most significant in ballet history! 🩰

I always make sure to pick a fabulous outfit to suit my travels, and for today's trip I've opted for a beautiful baby pink tulle tutu with a delicate satin bodice. It's light as a feather, perfect for travelling through the years, and, let's face it, who doesn't look fabulous in a pink tutu? 😉

Now, let's hop on that train of time and whisk ourselves back to the swinging sixties! I can already imagine the music - The Beatles, The Stones, maybe a bit of Motown for good measure. We'll be waltzing through bustling streets filled with stylish mini-skirts and fabulous flares. Oh, I can't wait to have a browse in some vintage boutiques and see the latest fashions! 🛍️

But before we start our exploration of 1966, let's dive into what happened in the world of ballet on this day:

A Royal Ballet Performance: It turns out, 7th June, 1966 was a special day for London's Royal Ballet. You see, my lovelies, they were performing "Giselle," a ballet classic, in their home at the Royal Opera House! "Giselle" is a beautiful tale about love, betrayal, and forgiveness. It's a timeless story with exquisite choreography, and of course, breathtaking costumes! And believe me, the ballerinas on stage were looking absolutely dazzling in their white and pastel-toned tutus! 💖🩰

Imagine, the air was electric with anticipation, the music swelled, the lights dimmed, and the stage was lit, casting shimmering reflections off the tutus. Just the thought of it all makes my heart soar!

Where I’m Going But there's more to this historical dance, my sweet darlings! Today's adventure will take us beyond the Royal Opera House, to a bustling metropolis, to a time of change, exploration, and excitement! And, of course, to witness how the iconic tutus of ballet have been dancing across decades! 🩰

And that's not all! I'm sure I'll be tempted by some fabulous shops along the way, maybe even a little vintage tutu hunting... It's all in the name of research, darling! 😉
