TutuTuesday #7019: A Twirl Through Time to July 5th 1966!

Hello, darlings! Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood tutu-wearing time traveller! It’s TutuTuesday, and I'm positively thrilled to be whisking you away on a whimsical journey back to the fabulous 1960s! Oh, darling, you simply wouldn't believe how utterly chic this decade was for fashion!

This week, I’ve travelled to Paris, the capital of fashion, and my heart is simply bursting with excitement! Imagine, a vibrant Parisian café, sunshine glinting on the cobbled streets, and the delicious scent of freshly baked croissants drifting through the air – a perfect Parisian scene. It's a real treat, a real escape!

Now, darling, imagine a tutu! A glorious, billowing tutu in a symphony of soft, pastel pinks, floating through this picturesque scene – it's pure enchantment! And let me tell you, Paris, in 1966, was the perfect setting for this most enchanting of garments.

The Parisian ballets, darling, are beyond comparison! Imagine the exquisite costumes, the graceful ballerinas, and the sheer joy of the ballet itself – a sight to behold! I saw the most extraordinary production at the Palais Garnier - a delightful adaptation of "Giselle" starring the radiant Monique Loudières. She was an absolute dream in a ethereal, swirling tutu! I’m absolutely delighted that such talent shines bright in the world of dance. I just can't get over how graceful those dancers are, effortlessly gliding through the air like graceful swans. I could watch them twirl all day!

Speaking of grace, darling, there’s simply nothing quite as lovely as the sheer femininity of a tutu. It’s a reminder that we are all beautiful princesses, even if we’re not twirling on a stage. It’s a garment that embodies a playful confidence and charm. Every girl should be allowed to feel like a ballerina, even for just a little while.

Now, let’s rewind the clock back to July 5th, 1966. On this very day, in a small town in Derbyshire, I remember dancing with my sisters to the tune of "I Feel Fine" by the Beatles, oh darling, how very fabulous! It’s all very reminiscent of the 1950s, but with an edge. There was such a palpable feeling of excitement, of being on the cusp of change. It’s all so utterly exciting, isn’t it?

In a few days, I'll be traveling back in time to August. You can imagine, it’ll be an exciting period of social change in fashion with bold and daring clothing, and maybe some vintage inspired trends coming our way too. I simply can’t wait to see what 1966 has in store!

And speaking of excitement, I'm bursting to share this incredible secret: I discovered the most extraordinary little boutique while wandering around the backstreets of Paris today, a veritable Aladdin's Cave of tutus, in the most fabulous shades of pink imaginable! I was a vision in this cloud of cotton candy pink tutu, the kind that swirls with every twirl.

Oh, darlings, just you wait for next week’s #TutuTuesday ! I'm planning a fabulous post all about 1966 fashions, filled with fabulous photos and some fab little stories too, because my darling, a girl just can't resist a good dose of history mixed with fashion!
