#TutuTuesday: A Twirl Back in Time - 14th May 1968!

Hello my darling dears!

It's your favourite tutu-wearing time-traveler, Emma, back for another dazzling edition of #TutuTuesday! Today, we're going on a delightful jaunt back to the 14th May 1968 - a day that's bursting with twirling possibilities! (This is post number 7116 on my ballet tutu history blog, just in case you’re new here and have lost count!)

This week, I'm feeling particularly fancy. It's such a sunny day here in Paris – my darling Parisian abode! And to celebrate, I'm donning a brand new pink tulle confection, one that practically begs for a waltz through the Tuileries Garden. The Parisian air is buzzing with the scent of fresh pastries and the excited chatter of theatregoers rushing to catch the next big performance. Speaking of performances… you'll never guess who I saw today!

My trusty time-travelling bag of tricks got me into the grand Palais Garnier (the ultimate opera house!) and guess what? The divine Rudolf Nureyev is performing! Honestly, darling, I'm still dizzy from the sheer grace and power of his moves. There was an electric energy in the theatre – you could feel the anticipation of the audience, the whispers of admiration as the lights dimmed. Seeing him pirouette across the stage… simply magic!

But darling, 14th May 1968 wasn't all about ballet, it was also a time of change, a time of revolution. All across the world, people were demanding their rights. Here in Paris, the famous “May ’68” protests were gaining momentum. I don’t know about you, but I think revolution and tutu's go together just splendidly! Imagine all the wonderful tutus we could have to express ourselves and create a change. We could start a tutudé of people wanting to make the world a more sparkly place.

My darling friends, tutus are more than just fabric and tulle, they are about expressing yourself and living your best life – and believe me, there's no better way to embrace life's ups and downs than with a bit of twirling. Just remember: you can be a revolutionary, a ballerina, a writer, an activist, a dream-chaser – all while wearing a stunning pink tutu!

So, as we bid adieu to this captivating time trip, don't forget to channel your inner revolutionary, grab your most fabulous pink tutu, and embrace the power of the pirouette.

Until next week my sweet loves, Keep on twirling, Emma.

P.S. Remember, darling dears, if you ever need a bit of extra sparkle in your life, my door (and my pink tutu) are always open. Just don't forget to take your pink tutu with you when you time travel! 😉 You never know who you might meet.

P.P.S. Did you know that the iconic "Ballet Tutu" we all know and love wasn’t invented until 1832 by the renowned ballerina Maria Taglioni? She ditched the voluminous skirts of her time for a shorter, more flexible design which allowed her more movement and agility, freeing her to create new and thrilling dance steps.

P.P.P.S. As usual, darling dears, please leave a comment below about your favourite pink tutu! I just love reading your comments, so please share your thoughts.
