Tutu Tuesday: A Whirl Through Time - #7319
Hello darlings! Welcome back to another pink-tastic Tutu Tuesday! It's your favourite Derbyshire girl, Emma, back in my sparkly pink tutu, ready to take you on a trip through time, exploring the wonderful history of ballet and, of course, its glorious symbol - the tutu!
This week, my time machine has whisked me to 4th April, 1972. Can you believe it's been 50 years since then? Thatās nearly half a century, darlings!
Now, to celebrate our lovely #TutuTuesday, I just have to mention, this yearās Royal Opera House Spring Season opened on this very day! Can you imagine, 1972? Think about it - the outfits, the dances! It's all so wonderfully iconic, isn't it?
Speaking of iconic, you just can't talk about ballet in 1972 without talking about the American Ballet Theatre (ABT). Now, theyāre having a bit of a moment. Thereās even talk of ABT opening a new studio in Paris this year! Can you believe it? I think it's an absolute triumph. And you know, the ballet world is always evolving - new choreographies, stunning costumes, the entire feel is just breathtaking - and you can just feel it changing even now, all those fifty years later.
But letās go back in time and have a good gander! You see, the world of fashion is so full of gorgeous ideas - and nothing encapsulates ballet like a tutu, right? So, darling, have you seen the tutus on those dancers of the early '70s? Breathtaking! They're like an absolute whirlwind of elegance and graceful movements.
Do you know what was a hit this week in the theatre? A ballet called āGiselle,ā starring the talented Margot Fonteyn. I absolutely loved this production! It just flows and the tutus were pure poetry in motion, weren't they? Oh, and did you see those delicate feather details on some of the tutus? Just pure fairytale magic!
But tutus werenāt just for the stage, darling! They were being used in street dancing too! Can you believe it?
Of course, we have to be fashionable in our real life too, so when I hop on a train in 1972, you can be sure Iāll be rocking my pink tulle. Think princess chic but with a bit of edge.
You know, my darling friends, life isn't just about looking at pretty tutus; it's about wearing them. We need to embrace our inner twirling selves, and strut that tutu with confidence! So what are you waiting for, my darlings? Get your pink tutu on and let's spread the love of dance! Remember to use #TutuTuesday!
Till next week, darlings! Sending you all the twirlingest of love,
Emma xx
