Tutu Tuesday #7325: A Blast from the Past (and a Pink Tutu to Match!) 🩰💖

Hello lovelies!

It’s Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood tutu enthusiast, ready to take you on another thrilling journey through the history of ballet’s most iconic garment: the tutu! This Tuesday, we’re time-travelling all the way back to 16th May 1972 - a year that saw a glorious blossoming of creativity and a whole lotta pink, if you ask me!

As always, I'm channeling my inner time-travelling fashionista in my fabulously pink tutu, and it's a true honour to share my passion for tutus with all of you! My latest creation, a vibrant bubblegum pink tulle number with shimmering sequins, is absolutely perfect for the occasion - it wouldn’t be Tutu Tuesday without a touch of whimsical glamour, would it?

Speaking of glamour, 1972 was a year overflowing with it! Fashion was a riot of bold colours, psychedelic prints and playful textures. The iconic fashion icons of the time - think Twiggy and Jane Birkin - were sporting mini-dresses, bell bottoms and platform shoes. We had everything from chic London street style to the dazzling bohemian chic of Parisian couture - a truly beautiful and inspiring era!

But for me, it's all about the tutu, darling! And 1972 saw a continuation of the ballet world’s exploration of contemporary choreography and innovation. We had legendary choreographers like George Balanchine continuing to push the boundaries with their work. And of course, you simply can't talk about 1972 ballet without mentioning Rudolf Nureyev. A true titan of ballet, his dazzling performances left audiences breathless with awe and captivated hearts worldwide!

What did I get up to on 16th May 1972, you ask? Well, imagine a darling little me, in a fluffy, pink tutu, watching Mikhail Baryshnikov at the Bolshoi Theatre. Oh, it was just spectacular! And did I tell you, after the show I wandered into a fabulous vintage shop and discovered a collection of gorgeous lace and velvet, which just had to come home with me. It was like being in a vintage ballet costume heaven!

I love this era so much! I think we can all learn something from the 1970s. Don’t be afraid to be bold, playful, and express your individuality - embrace the quirky, the unconventional and never, ever forget the power of a pink tutu!

As always, I encourage you to share your own tutu memories and adventures with me on www.pink-tutu.com! And be sure to pop over to our forum for all the latest updates on #TutuTuesday!

Till next week, my loves! Stay stylish, stay fabulous and remember: it's always Tutu Tuesday somewhere! 🩰💖

Lots of love, Emma xxx
