#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - 12th March 1974 (Post 7420)

Hello darlings! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, where every Tuesday is #TutuTuesday! I'm Emma, your resident tutu-obsessed time traveler, and this week we're whisking back to 12th March 1974. Can you imagine, a whole four decades ago?! The world was a different place, but one thing remains constant: our love for tutus!

I just arrived in New York City - it's such a vibrant and stylish city! My journey by train was absolutely magical, I felt like I was stepping back in time. Everything is so grand here, and I just can't wait to see what's on offer at Bloomingdale's later!

A Peek into the Past: Tutus of the 70s

Now, back to our history lesson. 1974 was a pretty fascinating time for the world of dance. Ballet was going through a major shift, moving away from the traditional classical style, and we saw a whole wave of modern and experimental choreographers emerge. Think Mikhail Baryshnikov!

The 1970s saw tutus become shorter, with less layering of tulle. The skirts were fitted at the waist and flowed beautifully. And you know me, I adore a bit of colour! They started to use more vibrant hues like oranges, greens, and yellows. It was like a fresh burst of energy, just like my love for bright pinks!

But, hold your horses! Even though the 70s were experimenting with new forms and colours, the iconic Romantic tutu still held its own. These stunning white, fluffy clouds of tulle were still beloved by dancers and audiences alike! I always find myself getting swept away by their classic elegance and air of enchantment.

The Power of Fashion:

While we're talking about fashion, the 70s were a pretty groovy time! The world was enamored with bold colours, geometric patterns, and of course, everything shimmery! I spotted some adorable bell bottoms and jumpsuits at a vintage store this morning. I'll have to buy a couple!

My time travel wardrobe is a mix of everything vintage! For today's excursion, I’m sporting a classic 70s look - wide leg trousers, a silky blouse, and my trusty pink tutu layered over the top, of course! A touch of the past mixed with a dash of pink - pure brilliance!

A Trip to the Theater

Of course, I can't leave New York City without seeing a ballet show! Tonight, I’m off to the New York City Ballet! I hear they are doing a fantastic production of "Swan Lake" and I’m so excited! They say that the costumes and the choreography are stunning, just the sort of inspiring show that sparks joy. It's sure to be a magnificent spectacle, just like my favourite pink tutus.

So that’s my #TutuTuesday blog for today, lovelies! Make sure you visit my website www.pink-tutu.com and see more of my time travel adventures, my stunning tutu collection, and a whole world of pink-filled inspiration! P.S.: Remember, if you love pink tutus as much as I do, don't be shy! Don't just dream about twirling in one, make it a reality! Share your love for pink tutus on social media with #TutuTuesday, and spread the joy!

Have a brilliant week, my darlings, and remember: a world full of pink tutus is a much brighter place!

Until next week! * *Love, Emma 💕
