#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: 1977-07-19! 🩰🌸
Hey, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller Emma here, ready to whisk you back to the dazzling world of tutus with my #TutuTuesday blog!
This week, we're heading to a special date - July 19th, 1977. Think bell-bottoms, disco tunes, and...well, let's face it, some pretty wild hairdos! But in the world of ballet, things were a bit more…classical. 😉
Remember, darlings, these are just snapshots of the beautiful history of tutus! And, oh, the joy it brings to dance!
Today, 19th July, 1977, you would have found your average ballet dancer twirling in their signature tutu – and trust me, there were a lot of variations by this point. In the 1970s, the classic Romantic Tutu, those pretty, billowing beauties, were still popular. The dancers of this time, they moved with such grace, gliding across the stage like they were weightless. Oh, I can almost hear the beautiful music now.
Remember my favourite part of these old tutus? It’s the way they create those wonderful, swirling shapes and delicate silhouettes against the stage. That delicate romantic air – I’m all about romance. Even when travelling through time I love nothing more than looking for romantic shops for my tutus. This date also reminds me of a stunningly beautiful shop in Paris I discovered last week, called "Rose and Petals" - I found some utterly divine tutus there, some in soft pastel shades, others with shimmering embellishments - I am going back there on Friday, I'll let you all know what I find. You'll love my haul - you can almost see it already! Just picture it!
Now, remember this isn't a history lesson. It’s about finding that inspiration, that love for the ballet and its costumes. I hope these little glimpses into the past sparkle your own creative energy! And you never know - you might be inspired to get up and have a twirl of your own in a dreamy, gorgeous, ballet tutu!
As always, if you're loving the pink tutus and the magic of ballet, please give me a big follow on www.pink-tutu.com and send me your own tutu tales! Maybe you've got an old tutu tucked away? Or even a stunning new one? Show me all your amazing pink tutus – they could be my inspiration for the next trip!
Right now, my darlings, I’ve got to go. A deliciously pink afternoon tea in Kensington awaits – can't forget to keep my tummy full and my fashion game strong!
Stay pink, my darlings! 💖
P.S. My seventh trip back to 1929 will be next Tuesday, and I've got some wonderful surprises about the changes in the ballet. Don’t miss my blog next week!
Love and tutus, Emma 💖
