Tutu Tuesday #7607: The Tutuâs Twirl Through Time - 1977-10-11 đ©°
Hello my dearest tutu lovers! Itâs Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad time-travelling ballerina, back for another edition of Tutu Tuesday! đ This week weâre taking a twirl back to 11th October 1977, and let me tell you, itâs a glamorous year for tutus! We're in Paris, of course, where the romance of the tutu is never out of style, even on the cobblestone streets.
Let me paint you a picture. Imagine Parisian chic mixed with the thrill of ballet, with everyone from shop girls to opera singers rocking their own interpretation of a fabulous tutu. There's a playful charm to it, you see. Just the sight of a little black dress and a fluffy pink tulle skirt can transform an everyday stroll into an enchanting dance, donât you think?
Speaking of transformations, you wouldnât believe the fantastic performance I witnessed at the Palais Garnier this very evening! It was a captivating show by the esteemed Ballet de l'OpĂ©ra de Paris. The grace and precision of those dancers, truly a marvel! I saw an enchanting swan lake performance with so much heart. The costumes were just exquisite! All white for the swans, the lead ballerina even had her own exquisite swan wing tutu. Itâs one of the things I adore about time travelling, each period brings its own magic.
Before my evening of ballet enchantment, I made sure to pay a visit to the elegant boutiques of Rue Saint-HonorĂ© and Rue Faubourg Saint-HonorĂ©. Paris is a haven for the tutu enthusiast. I found the most adorable pink tutu, oh, I must tell you all about it! It was the most perfect shade of bubblegum pink and so wonderfully puffy. My heart almost leaped out of my chest. And you won't believe what the shopkeeper, a true darling of a woman, told me â theyâve been a big hit this season! I, of course, had to purchase it to add to my already impressive tutu collection.
The 1970s was all about the flamboyant, and tutus were an essential part of it, a little touch of magical femininity to the otherwise, quite severe fashions of the decade. Just picture it, those beautiful feathered hats and big hair with a fluffy pink tutu. It is perfection!
Tutus of the 70s were a real celebration of movement, just like we see them on the stage. It's so wonderful to think that fashion can really echo the artistry of ballet. It's about expressing yourself, and that's why tutus never go out of style!
Now, you might think âEmma, itâs 1977 â are we really talking about tutus on the streets?â Of course! Let me tell you about this magnificent, revolutionary invention â Tulle. Itâs lighter than a feather, perfectly soft, and oh so unbelievably graceful. Just imagine the elegance of the flowing tulle with the right movement!
Thatâs why it's essential to keep a well-stocked tutu collection â to take us through any historical escapade, especially back in the time of disco. A little bit of pink goes a long way, even in the bustling streets of Paris! I know I look like an absolute dream in my pale pink tulle tutu while cruising the Seine River in my vintage, emerald green Mini Cooper. I adore the little side mirror that my car came with, and the dashboard in cherry red. Just picture the entire spectacle of elegance and grace I bring to Paris. The beauty of a good tutu is, itâs more than just an item of clothing - itâs an expression of joy, a celebration of your inner ballerina.
And don't forget to wear it with confidence. Let it bring you that extra sparkle on a dreary Tuesday. It doesnât matter if itâs just to pop to the shop or youâre waltzing into a grand Parisian party, wear it proudly, darling. There is magic in a tutu. It's about finding your own twirl and sharing the magic of the tutu with the world. And who knows? You might just inspire someone to embrace the magic of pink tutus, too.
Until next week, dear friends, may your life be filled with tulle and twirls! Happy Tutu Tuesday!
With twirling love, Emma đ
