#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - 7609 🩰🌸

Hey darlings! Emma here, your resident tutu enthusiast, coming to you live from the glamorous world of...well, let's just say that my current location is a secret. πŸ˜‰πŸ€« But don't you worry, my dear readers, you'll be hearing all about it very soon!

This week, as always, we're taking a little trip down memory lane to explore the fascinating world of the tutu! Today is the 25th of October, 1977 - can you believe it's been that long?! My trusty time travel contraption is still humming away happily, ready to take me wherever my heart desires, especially to the ballet, and it's this journey I want to tell you about!

Now, back to tutus - they really are something else, aren't they? I mean, imagine walking down the street, or, ahem skipping, and seeing a flash of pink (or whatever your colour of choice might be!), then realising it's a darling little tutu dancing its way towards you. A symphony of twirls, flutters and oh la la - pure elegance and joy, just like that!

And, as any ballet lover knows, 1977 was quite the year for tutus. For instance, the magnificent Royal Ballet, led by the oh-so-lovely Sir Frederick Ashton, presented a revival of Swan Lake on this very date. Imagine being there - the soft lighting, the gorgeous music, the incredible dancers, and of course, the stunningly crafted tutus! Odette's white tulle tutu would have been a masterpiece of design - just imagine it shimmering under the stage lights.

That brings us to another point - tutus in 1977 were getting bolder, braver. Designers were starting to push boundaries with different colours, lengths and silhouettes, offering dancers greater expression through their costumes. And it wasn't just about Swan Lake either. Remember Giselle? Its ethereal tutus with the romantic lace and tulle are simply divine. And then there's La Bayadere, the perfect blend of vibrant colour and intricate design, bringing us to this delightful period in tutu history.

And what are we up to? It wouldn't be a #TutuTuesday post without a bit of a fashion spree! In 1977, fashion itself was embracing vibrant colours, bold patterns, and just a touch of theatricality. This, my dears, made it a prime time to express your own unique style!

Do you know what else I noticed in 1977? Tutus, once only found on stage, were starting to infiltrate everyday life. They were featured in fashion magazines, music videos, and even street style. It was a beautiful moment in time!

Just as in today's world, finding the perfect tutu can be a challenge. Let's just say that Pink-Tutu.com was quite ahead of its time - I wish it was here! Imagine finding tutus for every occasion, every size, every style - it would be the dream come true!

But even if you aren't in the market for a tutu right now, let me tell you - you can get the look even without donning one. Simply find an outfit that evokes a similar feeling of effortless elegance and graceful charm. Add a touch of colour with some bold accessories, or perhaps a chic hat for an added dose of charm. And hey, why not channel that en pointe attitude and let it radiate from you. The power is within!

Now, enough about tutus! I do love a good gossip, and since my current adventure has a bit of a mystery surrounding it (more on that later, dear readers!), let's have a fun little quiz. Tell me - can you guess where I am? I promise to tell you all about it soon. Remember, there will be a trip report and plenty of exciting fashion updates - after all, you know me, my dear readers - shopping is my raison d'etre.

In the meantime, keep twirling, stay positive, and most importantly, remember that life is best enjoyed with a touch of pink and a dash of tutu magic. See you next Tuesday for more history and tutus! πŸŒΈπŸ’–

Yours in twirls,

Emma.

P.S. Let me know what your favourite ballet tutu designs are! Tell me everything you love about them, whether it's the fabric, the colours, or the sheer glamour! I always love hearing from you all! πŸ˜‰πŸ’–
