Hey, darling tutu lovers! Emma here, your very own pink tutu-wearing time traveller, ready to whisk you back through history in my fabulous pink tutu. It's #TutuTuesday and, oh my goodness, we are heading all the way back to 29th November 1977! I can practically feel the disco ball shimmer from here. This is the year of flared trousers, platform shoes, and – oh, the joy! – the rise of ballet-inspired fashion!

You see, darling, this period was a very exciting time for the tutu. It was when the tutu started its journey from the strict, elegant stages of the ballet to a dazzling street-wear sensation. And, let me tell you, the world was utterly charmed by its fluffy, tulle delight!

Imagine – picture a 1970s London, buzzing with life. Punk rock and disco are fighting it out for attention, and in the middle of all this, the tutu has just waltzed onto the street scene. Now, let’s go explore, shall we?

First stop: Fashion! We are talking all things pink! Oh, how I adore a good pink tutu! This shade just screams joy and girly fun. And as it happens, pink was very much the colour in 1977. Everyone from ordinary folk to famous pop icons were wearing the lovely shade, making pink tutu fabulousness absolutely irresistible.

Now, this is where my journey gets even more delightful! Because what made 1977 extra special was the fashion genius of the London Ballet, headed by the charismatic choreographer and artistic director, Derek Deane. This company created stunning productions where, oh, the tutus were just breath-taking! Think dazzling, full-length designs, gleaming in silvery colours – oh, absolutely gorgeous!

Imagine those exquisite tutus on stage and now imagine a street style that captured the magic! * A whole new world of fashion with the tutu as the star! * This style embraced femininity in the most joyous, free-flowing way. Think ballet dancers in their gorgeous tulle dresses and, yes! – that’s right, pink was everywhere. Think bold colours and shapes and let's be honest – a dash of disco too!

I absolutely adore it! And you know what, the fabulousness didn't end at fashion.

Next stop: Ballet And it just wouldn’t be a tutu Tuesday without a quick stop in the glorious world of ballet. Well, in 1977 the ballet world was simply blooming with exciting news – the opening of the brand-new Sadler's Wells Theatre!

This theatre was – and still is! - a must-visit for any ballet lover. I adore seeing performances here, even though it was a while back! Its opulent atmosphere and stunning architecture truly brought a special feel to the stage. This was a big deal in the world of dance. It felt like an opening of a new chapter!

Of course, no trip back in time would be complete without shopping!. There was an amazing little boutique in the centre of London on Oxford Street, a shopping heaven known as "Laura Ashley". Here you could find tutu-esque creations for everyone, from adorable little dresses for the girls to beautiful romantic blouses and flowing skirts for grown-ups. I can see myself whirling around a floor full of lace and tulle, laughing as I search for the perfect outfit.

To tell you the truth, shopping in the 1970s was a world away from how it is today, the internet, you see, was just starting. There were no online stores, no delivery services, it was all about visiting shops and spending hours browsing and getting your hands on all the fabulous items.

The excitement for shopping extended even to travel – the trains in the 70s were absolutely packed with people all ready for a day of fun. Everyone seemed so stylish – and of course, I made sure I was dressed to impress in my pink tutu, looking like a proper 1970s ballet ballerina!

And it wasn’t just about the fashion. There was a real feeling of excitement and adventure. People were excited to explore new ideas and express themselves creatively – which makes this era a very inspiring time for my #TutuTuesday.

Well, that brings us to the end of our time trip for this week. It's amazing how history repeats itself and the fashion world still finds tutus a wonderfully feminine and delightful fashion choice.

Remember, you don’t have to wait to travel back in time, put on a pink tutu and let your inner ballet ballerina take centre stage, and make every day a fabulous tutu Tuesday!
