#TutuTuesday: A Whirl Through the World of Tutus - January 2nd, 1979!

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing time traveller, Emma, back with another thrilling trip through ballet history! Today's date is January 2nd, 1979, and believe me, there's a lot to be excited about!

As I travel through time, I find myself completely swept up in the magic of the tutu. Today, I'm stepping off the train at the heart of Parisian elegance – oh la la, it’s Paris! This city breathes romance and artistry, a perfect backdrop for exploring the ever-evolving world of tutus.

Speaking of tutus, I've got to tell you, the 1970s are really embracing a different kind of movement. Gone are the days of super rigid, full-length tutus that resembled a confectionery dream. Now, it’s all about freedom and expression. You’ve got shorter tutus, often with asymmetrical cuts or multiple layers – they're a lot more playful, like little ballerina clouds! I adore the freedom of movement these styles offer; it makes the ballerinas look like little wisps of light!

And you know what's amazing about this time? Choreographers like George Balanchine are exploring new, vibrant choreographic languages. It’s like seeing the tutu being reborn! He’s using a lot more lyrical and flowing movement, which I find completely captivating!

Imagine, dancing beneath a sparkling Parisian sky to a new interpretation of 'Giselle'! It’s just magic, especially when the tutus swish and twirl to the music!

Now, of course, I have to indulge in some shopping – it wouldn't be a Parisian trip without a little retail therapy! The vintage shops in Paris are like stepping into a treasure trove. I’m hoping to find some original '70s pieces that reflect this period's tutu-licious trend. I already have my eye on a gorgeous burnt orange tutu with a ruffled hem – so chic, so vibrant!

Before I forget, we must mention that the first digital video game with a story, "Adventure," was released in 1979. This is truly a groundbreaking moment! Now, if only they'd create a ballet-themed adventure game… Oh, I dream!

Okay, I have to stop dreaming for a second – there's a delightful Parisian bakery calling my name! Who knows what other delightful tutu discoveries are in store for me tonight?

I hope you've enjoyed my #TutuTuesday post! Remember, the world is a stage – let your personality shine, be fearless, and let your tutu do the talking! Until next Tuesday, darling!

Lots of love and tutu kisses,

Emma xoxo
