#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History on 1979-09-11

Now, I know what you're thinking – what could be more thrilling than a trip to the ballet, adorned in a gloriously pink tutu? Well, maybe nothing, BUT imagine going back to 1979! 🤯 Just the thought makes my pointe shoes wiggle with excitement!

So, dust off your vintage records, put on your biggest hair bows, and get ready to be whisked away to a time where shoulder pads were big, leg warmers were everything, and tutus were truly dazzling. 💫

Now, we're going to 1979-09-11, a Monday, not a Tuesday! (Oops, sometimes I get caught up in the world of tulle). But that's the magic of time travel, right? 😜 Today, we’re skipping a few hours to witness the 1979 Miss Universe Pageant in Perth, Western Australia. It was the 28th annual pageant, and a woman named Margaret Gardiner, a Miss South Africa, was crowned as the winner! (You know, back in those days, things were quite a bit different.)

Can you imagine, lovelies, all the amazing evening gowns they would have been wearing?! Maybe there were some feathered boas, sequins, and, if we're lucky, some hint of pink? 🤔 That's something I have to look into!

As I mentioned earlier, 1979 was an exciting time for the tutu. The world of ballet, fashion, and performance was really getting to grips with how versatile a tutu could be! 🤩 In 1979, it wasn't just about those beautiful, billowing tulle masterpieces that made dancers seem like ethereal creatures in the ballet.
