Tutu Tuesday #7756: A Pink Tutu Take on 1980s Ballet ๐Ÿฉฐโœจ๐Ÿ’–

Hey darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, here, ready to whisk you back in time for another #TutuTuesday adventure. This week, we're twirling into the vibrant 1980s!

Picture it: the year is 1980. The world's in a whirl of neon colours, big hair, and music that'll get you dancing in the aisles! It's the decade of shoulder pads, leg warmers, and those fabulously impractical, but totally glamorous, tutus!

Today, we're looking at a ballet world awash with bold, new styles. It's a time when even classical ballets like Swan Lake were getting a glamorous makeover with daring costumes and exciting choreography.

Pink-tastic!

This is, of course, my favourite decade for tutu design. Think sparkly pinks, shimmering lilacs, and breathtaking turquoise that makes you feel like you're floating on air! I simply adore this period for the imaginative, fun-loving approach to tutu creation, it really made those dancers shine!

August 19th, was a typical Tuesday back in 1980. You could have caught a performance of the beloved The Nutcracker by the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow or been swept away by the delicate beauty of La Sylphide performed by the Royal Ballet in London. Oh, I wish I could hop on the Orient Express to catch a glimpse of these fabulous performances!

Ballet Trends to Rock this Season!

But what really gets my creative tutu juices flowing is the sheer variety of tutu trends that graced stages back in the day. We're talking everything from short and spunky to full-bodied and flowing tutus that made these dancers look like real-life fairytale princesses.

Imagine a shimmering tutu with pink and purple feathers dancing to Tchaikovsky's* magical score, **it would be simply breathtaking! My head is practically swimming with ideas for a #TutuTuesday outfit inspired by the 80s - stay tuned for the pics!

Tutus from Derbyshire to Paris, and Back!

My little village back in Derbyshire, England, may have been miles from the world-famous ballet studios, but it didn't mean we were without our tutu moments. I have fond memories of watching local ballet schools perform Giselle and Swan Lake on a smaller stage with passion and exuberance that shone even brighter than the Parisian productions.

What's wonderful is that it wasn't just the glamorous ballerinas dancing the day away; tutus were being rocked by everyone! Imagine the joyful spectacle of children skipping about in their frilly tutus, their little faces glowing with pure delight, like miniature ballerinas taking their first steps into the world of dance.

Tutu Time Travel is my Passion!

Travelling back through time to experience these fabulous eras is what keeps my tutu-loving heart ticking. I'm always on the lookout for vintage tutus to add to my collection, from feather-light Romantic tutus from the Belle ร‰poque to the more structured and geometric *neoclassical tutus from the 1980s.

The journey is just as important as the destination when you're a tutu-loving time traveler! A journey in a plush train carriage filled with delicious tea and enchanting ballet chatter is just what the doctor ordered! Who needs a private jet, I say? Trains are my magic carpet.

Fashion in a Twirl: Ballet as Inspiration!

For this Tutu-inspired #OutfitOfTheDay, I'm channeling the fabulous pastel palette of the 80s! Imagine a vintage pastel pink jacket draped over a gorgeous, layered tulle skirt with just a hint of shimmer. Add a pair of crystal-studded ballet flats and you've got yourself a showstopper look, perfect for strolling through the vintage stores, searching for my next precious tutu treasure!

Remember darlings, it's never too late to wear a tutu! You can find yours on www.pink-tutu.com. And make sure to tune in next week for more #TutuTuesday fun! Until then, twirl on, my sweet dears, and remember: the world is your stage!

With twirls and wishes,

Emma
