#TutuTuesday: A Pink Journey Back to 1980! (Blog Post #7758)
Hello, darlings! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things tutu and fabulous! It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time to twirl back in time for another delightful #TutuTuesday. This week, I’m hopping on my trusty time-traveling train (it's pink, naturally) and heading straight to September 2nd, 1980!
You might be thinking, "Emma, why that particular date?" Well, dear readers, it's all about the ballet! 1980 was a dazzling year for dance, full of gorgeous gowns, elegant moves, and a whole lot of tutus, of course!
This Tuesday, in 1980, ballet was being enjoyed all around the world, just like today. Can you imagine, going to a grand ballet performance in London, Paris, or New York City in 1980? Just thinking about it makes me want to reach for my pink tulle and twirl in the streets!
To get into the spirit of 1980, I’m wearing my vintage, baby-pink, romantic tutu. The style is simply darling: a single layer of delicate tulle with a delicate floral detail on the waist. I think it's the perfect blend of classic and modern. It goes wonderfully with my pink cashmere sweater, oh darling, it’s divine. It's just the right kind of outfit to wear for a leisurely afternoon spent browsing antique stores or watching a film about the royal ballet. Remember, darlings, every day is a ballet performance for a fashion-forward ballerina like myself!
A Stroll Through 1980's Ballet World
You know how much I love the excitement of opening night and I can imagine what it must have been like on this very date, September 2nd, 1980, for dancers, choreographers, and even for ballet fans! It would have been a night of exhilarating choreography, intricate footwork, and the most exquisite costumes. I bet they were full of ruffles, sequins, and even some wonderful pink tutus!
As I browse my archive of ballet memorabilia, I found a fabulous snapshot of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. I’m practically giddy! The Russian ballerinas would have been gracefully swirling on the stage. It's such a pleasure to imagine the sparkle in their eyes and the elegant swish of their skirts. This is where the magic of dance truly lives, don't you think?
Back To The Present - It's All About the Tutus!
Alright, darlings, let’s bring it back to the present! I have a fabulous tutu update for you.
First, my darling friend, Lily, just sent me photos from the new dance studio that opened in Derbyshire! I’m just bursting to go see it, but my current time-travel mission is on the East Coast this week. (Perhaps the New York City Ballet or the American Ballet Theatre?) Maybe I can pop into Derbyshire on my way back from America next week, darling!
Another reason to be giddy? We've just added an entirely new line of vintage tutus to Pink-Tutu.com, in colours that would even make Margot Fonteyn (a legendary dancer) give us a standing ovation.
I think you’re going to be absolutely delighted with this new line of vintage treasures. Every tutu in our new line has been hand-picked with so much care, and each one tells a little story of its own, reminding us of the time they've spent making memories, on the dance floors and in wardrobes around the world! It’s almost magical!
*And now, darlings, the big news… *
Do you want to win a chance to dance the night away with a true-life ballet star? I'm talking about an all-access experience: backstage, opening night performance, a dance lesson with the professional - it will be spectacular! Simply comment on this post and tell me your favorite ballet tutu and why! The competition runs until next week’s #TutuTuesday blog!
Until then, stay sparkly, stay graceful, and never forget to embrace the beauty of the dance and, of course, embrace the pink tutus, darling!
Emma x
