Tutu Tuesday: #7774 โ€“ Back to the 80s!

Hey my gorgeous tutu-loving friends! ๐Ÿฉฐ๐Ÿ’–

Itโ€™s Emma here, back with another instalment of Tutu Tuesday โ€“ and what a journey Iโ€™ve been on this time! My time-travelling tutus have brought me right back to the vibrant, neon-bright 80s, specifically to the 23rd of December 1980. And guess what, it was absolute tutu heaven!

Now, this might sound crazy, but the 80s were actually a pretty amazing time for ballet. Remember that movie "Fame" with the big hair and the amazing dance routines? It sparked a real ballet boom! Everybody was flocking to the theatre to see shows, ballet studios were bursting at the seams with budding ballerinas, and even the streets were alive with ballet-inspired dance moves.

Stepping out onto the bustling streets of New York City on this magical Tuesday felt like entering a wonderland. Think of a world full of tutus but also bright neon pink leggings, huge shoulder pads, and leg warmers โ€“ so many leg warmers! It was fashion chaos, but in a good way, darling.

A Tutus-tastic Theatre Experience:

I absolutely had to catch a show. Thankfully, "The Nutcracker" was running at the New York City Ballet, and boy oh boy, was it magnificent! The costumes were just stunning - all fluffy tutus and intricate, detailed embellishments. The choreography was both traditional and exciting. It was like witnessing history unfold.

Even the atmosphere was utterly enchanting. There was a buzz in the air, a feeling of community that made my heart sing. People were dressed up to the nines in their finest formal wear, all ready for an evening of elegant entertainment. It was so exhilarating to be a part of something so special, so vibrant.

Let's Talk Shopping!

Now, how could a girl like me resist a trip to the ballet shop after such a wonderful show? The shelves were bursting with tutu delights. Some of the tutus I found were utterly exquisite - classic, airy, and flowing. Some were incredibly intricate, adorned with shimmering sequins and stunning lace.

But the ones that caught my eye, the ones I just had to try on, were these fun, playful ones - in every colour imaginable! I swear, some were even pink with neon sparkles. Honestly, my darlings, I could have spent the whole day trying them all on, twirling away like a ballerina in her happy place!

My Favourite 80s Trends:

It wouldn't be Tutu Tuesday without a little fashion chat, wouldn't it? My favourite trend back in these glorious days was the leotard. Forget those basic black ones we see these days, no siree! Back then, they were all about colours - vivid, bright, eye-catching, absolutely show-stopping colours! A good, strong colour can elevate your tutu to a whole new level, and with all that colourful energy surrounding me in 1980s New York, how could I not want to channel the power of colour?!

Bringing the 80s Vibe Back:

As I travelled back through time, I couldnโ€™t help but ponder how much we can still take from the energy of that era. There's something special about embracing bold colours and playful experimentation. Itโ€™s a reminder to just be yourself, have fun, and let your imagination take you on a thrilling dance journey!

So why not channel your inner 80s ballerina, dear readers? Embrace a bold leotard, maybe even a vibrant pair of leg warmers, and go for a dance in a tutu that expresses your true self! Who knows what kind of fabulous moves await you when you unleash your inner tutu-loving spirit?

But, before you go, tell me, what was your favourite fashion trend from the 80s? Did you catch "The Nutcracker" then? And remember, a little tutu magic goes a long way.

Happy Tutu-ing! ๐Ÿ’–

Your favourite pink tutu wearing blogger, Emma
