Hello lovelies! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, here! This week, we're twirling back to January 24th, 1984, and boy oh boy, were things sparkly and fabulous! It was a real golden age for ballet, wouldn't you say?
First things first, let's talk about the amazing ballet I caught in Paris this week. Le Lac des Cygnes ā it was positively breathtaking! Imagine this, rows of beautiful ballerinas gracefully pirouetting, their tutus billowing like clouds. Honestly, I was swept away by the romance of it all! But the best part? Seeing those stunning costumes up close after the performance. It was like a trip to a vintage boutique with the most exquisite craftsmanship. And did I mention the tulle? So delicate and floaty!
Speaking of delicate, let's have a little chat about 1984 and the fashion scene, shall we? It was a time when oversized shoulders reigned supreme, and bold colours were all the rage. The only colour that wasn't bold, of course, was pink! We all know that pink is the colour of pure happiness, don't we? And I think those bold fashionistas of the 1980s were secretly yearning for some delicate femininity! Now imagine pairing those amazing power suits with a delicate pink tutuā¦ could you get a more fabulous fusion of chic and whimsical?
Moving on, who else was absolutely charmed by Madonnaās Like a Virgin music video this week? The whole "virgin bride" theme with the extravagant wedding gown and the layers of lace was a real explosion of femininity. And the music was SO catchy! Imagine pairing that iconic video with a few pirouettes in a sparkly pink tutuā¦ Pure joy!
This week, I'm all about embracing the delicate side of 1980s fashion. Not to mention, those fantastic hairstyles ā so many big, bouncy curls and the return of the classic ballerina bun! I was all about big and beautiful this week!
