This week, our time machine lands us smack-dab in the middle of October 1984. The air is crisp, the leaves are turning a magnificent orange, and everywhere you look, fashion is screaming '80s! 🍁🍂 The big hair, the neon colours, the leg warmers - oh my! 👩‍🦱✨💖

And speaking of fabulous fashion, you know what's been making waves? That's right, it's the ever-so-charming ballet tutu! 💕✨ It's making a huge comeback this year, after a brief period where those silly '80s trends like leg warmers threatened to take over! 🙄

Don't worry, though, ballet lovers, our beloved tutu isn't going anywhere. And for good reason! It's just so chic! 💅💃

Today, our #TutuTuesday takes us to New York City. Now, there's no place on earth where the ballet tutu is more celebrated than right here in the Big Apple! ✨🗽 You see, ballet in the 80s has become HUGE! Not just at the legendary New York City Ballet, where everyone's watching Mikhail Baryshnikov! 🔥💥 The streets of NYC are absolutely buzzing with excitement! Everyone from fashion designers to film stars is paying homage to the elegance and grace of ballet! 💖🩰

Imagine: you're walking down the street, you see a cute pink tutu on display in a window...and boom! The '80s have you hypnotised! 🧠💖 Suddenly you can see yourself twirling in that darling little skirt, and you know your outfit simply has to be complete! You grab it, you're in love! 😍 The best thing about the 1980s, darlings? They were all about feeling confident and expressing yourself - a perfect excuse to twirl in pink! 💖🥰

Let's chat about our favourite ballet companies and what they are up to on this fab October day in 1984! 🎉

Ah, the New York City Ballet, it's such an absolute darling! 💕✨ The energy here is infectious. Everyone's so enthusiastic about their dancing, and everyone loves to see the world's finest ballerinas and dancers take centre stage. I must say, darling, it's pure bliss watching those stars shine so brightly! ✨ There is something magical about seeing dancers gliding through the air, and in New York City, that magic is tangible! 🌟✨

And what's the buzz today? Well, it’s "The Four Seasons" by George Balanchine. Can you believe that in 1984, the legendary dancer Gelsey Kirkland is taking centre stage? 🌟💖 Just the other day I saw her on "The Tonight Show"! She is such a sweetheart. She says that George Balanchine is like a magician, the way he moves his ballerinas through space, using this magic and mystique that just draws you in. ✨🤫

The costumes for "The Four Seasons"? Pure brilliance, darlings! They’re stunning - full of gorgeous vibrant colours that make my heart flutter. Just imagine those dazzling costumes swirling around the stage! It's absolutely beautiful! 😍

Now let’s hop on the train to the Big Apple's favourite neighbourhood, that stylish Manhattan! 🤩 Over here, in the heart of all the artistic and cultural excitement, we've got the ever-fabulous American Ballet Theatre. 🤩 And let me tell you, darling, their performance is simply breathtaking! ✨

Today, they're wowing the crowd with their captivating performance of "Swan Lake". 🌟 Now, we all know about Tchaikovsky's classic music, darling, so when those melodies waft across the stage... Well, it’s pure magic! 🎼🦢

Imagine it: * You’re watching, and suddenly, in that beautiful spotlight, you see one of the most breathtaking moments - the *choreography for the 'black swan' solo. ✨🩰 It is absolutely jaw-dropping, all the graceful lines and the perfect poses! You know you are seeing something so exceptional, you want to run onto the stage, pull out your ballet shoes, and dance alongside these magnificent dancers! 😅💖

And those costumes? They're truly exquisite! 💖 They capture the true essence of the Swan Lake: those classic black tutus for the swan princess are iconic, and they just scream grace and elegance! 😍

Don't be fooled into thinking ballet is only about those major events, darling! Here in 1984, it's thriving all over the world! 🤩 Ballet has its fingers in every pie. The streets are awash with new and vibrant interpretations of the dance. We see incredible costumes, new choreography, a resurgence of ballet-inspired fashion. 😍💖

And that brings us back to my darling, beautiful tutu! 🩰❤️ The 80s was truly a time where our iconic, whimsical tutu had its biggest moment in the limelight. I wouldn't have it any other way, darlings. That frilly tulle, that flowy movement, it captures that essence of pure beauty and grace. ✨💕

You could find a ballet class happening in every city! It’s not just those prestigious ballet schools that have embraced ballet as part of their identity! The tutu became this universal symbol for the excitement and beauty of dance! 💖🙌 From fancy dance studios to regular high schools and after-school programmes, everyone was rocking a pink tutu! 🌸✨

Now, darling, let's not forget about those divine tutus! This time travel business isn’t cheap, darlings. That’s why my life as a ballet dancer pays my time travelling fare! This week I was at The Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow - pure magic! And I performed my signature act "Tutu Transformation" for a sold-out audience! ✨🩰 And as always, my favourite part was seeing all the sweet ballet dancers from all over Russia twirling their little hearts out, wearing my absolute favourite colour: pink, of course! 🤫💕

Of course, after that dazzling performance, darling, I had to head out on a little shopping spree! 🤩 Every city in the world is an absolute delight for the stylish traveller like me! Just a quick pop into this darling boutique in London and I scored this beautiful silk pink scarf. 👛🎀 Can you believe it was only five pounds?! And do you see my new shoes? I call them the “twirl and tango” - perfect for waltzing, cha-cha-ing, or a good old fashioned tango. 😎💕
