TutuTuesday #7980: Twirling Back to the 80s!

Hello darlings! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com for another fabulous TutuTuesday journey through ballet history! Today, we’re putting on our most vibrant pink tutus, hopping on a vintage train (because you know I love train travel!), and time travelling back to a particularly glamorous era: 4th December 1984!

Oh, my darlings, this was the year of big hair, bold colours, and – of course! – tutus! You couldn’t swing a sparkly baton without hitting a tutu, it was just everywhere! In theatre, in ballet, on stage and off! Imagine, it was so fashionable, even the men were sporting some tutus, well, almost… ;)

Now, picture it: The music's blasting from the record player, and the air is buzzing with the energy of the biggest hairspray hits of the decade. Think Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna – just imagine that electric atmosphere. That's the 80s!

And guess what was happening on this very day in 1984?

Drumroll please…

The Royal Ballet’s ‘La Sylphide’ was on at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden! The ballet, created in 1832, features the most delicate, ethereal tutus imaginable, like spun sugar with wings, and a storyline full of enchanting magic and romantic adventure! A perfect ballet for the 80s romantic heart, wouldn’t you agree?

It’s hard not to fall under the spell of La Sylphide’s classic beauty. It's all about elegance and precision, with beautiful flowing movements and, of course, tutus that are absolute perfection. A true masterclass in ballerina grace!

Speaking of grace, oh darling, you must have seen the TutuTuesday post last week. If not, I must introduce you to the sublimely talented, gorgeous, and frankly awe-inspiring Sylvie Guillem! This ballerina embodied 80s elegance and passion! Her tutus! Ooh la la They are everything you would ever desire: beautifully crafted, delicate, flowing, perfectly pink and with just the right amount of sparkle!

Speaking of TutuTuesday inspiration, what has your 80s ballerina style been like this week? I love seeing you ladies in your fabulous tutus! Please don't forget to send in your photos and share your 80s ballerina looks! Remember, hashtag #TutuTuesday on your posts! You’ll inspire others to wear pink tutus – it's my mission!

Now, my dears, while we bask in the glorious pink tutu-filled glory of the 80s, remember, every day is a chance to put on a fabulous tutu, whether it's for a trip to the ballet, a day of errands, or just to make a statement at the park! We can all embrace the magic and joy of the tutu.

Because life is a stage, darlings, and we’re all actresses ready to step out into the spotlight and shine!

Until next Tuesday, keep dancing your hearts out and don't forget to… wear pink! 💖🩰

Love,

Emma
