#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History: 1985-01-08!

Oh my darlings, what a day to be alive! A perfect day for a jaunt down to the ballet, followed by some utterly delightful shopping and maybe a cheeky glass of champagne, don't you think? And as it's #TutuTuesday, let's get right to it! Today, dear readers, we're taking a trip back in time to a glorious Tuesday in January 1985, just in time for the annual Royal Ballet's "The Nutcracker" season. Oh how I'd love to be flitting around that stage!

Today's a particularly special Tuesday though, for it's not just a regular Tuesday. No, it's a Tuesday that is doubly wonderful. Why? Because it's the day a brand new, exquisite collection of ballet tutus is launched! A new era of beautiful tutus is dawning! The designer? Jean-Pierre Verger. This man knows what a ballerina wants. This collection features the most divine soft pinks and peaches you've ever seen! And it features so many fabulous layers that just beg to be twirled in. Just imagine twirling with such beautiful garments, feeling like you are flying. Simply sensational!

Speaking of fabulous tutus and all things ballet, my darlings, do you ever get those fantastic urges to travel? To just up and go to another part of the world? Well, that's exactly what I'm doing right this minute! This week I found myself in New York City, and wouldn't you know it, they're all about tutus in this city too. Just imagine - everyone is strutting around in the chicest tutus and it's just gorgeous! I must confess I did purchase a new fabulous fluffy pink tulle tutu and some killer glitter shoes for the occasion. The shop I visited - oh it was a haven of beauty! There was pink tulle everywhere, gorgeous bows, sparkling beading... It was like stepping into a dream! And of course, I had to share all the beautiful images of tutus with you, my lovely readers, so I took pictures of everything!

But New York City isn't all tutus, you know. It's got that wonderful big city energy too. This evening I am attending a fabulous theatre performance and a delightful cocktail party afterward. A good glass of fizz is perfect for sparking a good gossip, or as they say, "a little champagne can turn any old night into an elegant affair," don't you think? That's how I like it, and that's why I love tutus!

Oh my dears, I nearly forgot! Today, January 8th 1985, marks the premiere of "An Evening of Stravinsky," which has premiered here in New York City. This magnificent event showcases the works of one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. Can you imagine the sheer thrill of attending a world-class ballet premiere? Now, if I wasn't all set for my own event, I would be off like a shot to see that beautiful, graceful and elegant performance!

Before I forget, New York City is my very favourite place for seeing a ballet โ€“ I just love it! They have the best ballets there. Oh, and you simply have to visit their iconic Metropolitan Opera House - the architecture is exquisite, it's like something from a fairy tale. You can even have a special tour for you and a group of friends, oh how splendid!

And itโ€™s not just ballets that enthral me - I simply adore a good fashion show, too! Today, I must visit the American Ballet Theatre where I just have to get my hands on some of those stunning new pointe shoes. Yes, I am a ballerina through and through, with a big love of fashion too!

Speaking of the American Ballet Theatre, *they will be holding a stunning *"Gala Event"* in a few days! Now this is *definitely one to put in your diary! Oh my darling, the event includes a gala evening performance with the best of modern ballets, * and will be featuring all the *most famous dancers. I just can't wait! A truly magical event! They call it "The Jewel of the Season," and you can bet it will be spectacular. They even host a *special reception for some VIPs... I will have to ask one of the organisers to let me inโ€ฆ a girl can dream, can't she?

Before I sign off for this week's post, don't forget the Pink Tutu Challenge! Go ahead, embrace your inner ballerina. Put on your fluffiest pink tulle tutu, get your twirl on, and share a pic on social media. We need a pink tutu revolution! Remember, dear readers, even though we are a long way from 1985 now, there are so many beautiful tutu styles and exciting things happening in the world of ballet!

But for now, darling readers, I am off to grab some more delicious New York City energy! Until next Tuesday, remember to always be brave, beautiful, and most importantly, twirl like nobody's watching.

Oh, and do keep those tutus flowing!

Always with love, Emma
