#TutuTuesday: A Blast From The Past! (1985-09-17)

Hello lovelies! 🩰 It's Emma here, your pink-tutu-clad time-travelling fashionista, ready to take you on another delightful trip down ballet history lane. Today, we're going right back to September 17th, 1985. Grab your favourite pink tutu, darling, it's going to be a whirl!

Paris: City Of Lights, City Of Ballet!

We've landed in the very heart of Paris, where the romance of ballet is truly felt. Oh, the scent of perfume and croissants wafting through the air, and those quaint Parisian cafes. Talk about the ultimate inspiration for my ballerina wardrobe! 💖

But today, we're not here for croissants, darling. We're here for the Ballet, a show I just have to see! My dear, this is Ballet de l'Opéra de Paris, the biggest and most prestigious ballet company in all of France. Honestly, the tutus in these shows are legendary. Every dancer looked like they were twirling on a cloud, just effortlessly elegant and graceful!

The Legacy of "The Nutcracker"

1985 was a magical year for ballet, particularly "The Nutcracker". Can you imagine, my darlings, seeing a whole production dedicated to such a story, a magical journey that makes everyone feel a little bit childlike again? The sets, the costumes - all truly captivating.

But what was truly inspiring on September 17th, 1985? "The Nutcracker" was actually having a break in its performance schedule - but fret not! This gave a chance for some of the smaller ballet companies in the city to shine, with exciting programmes like "The Sleeping Beauty" and "Giselle". It was all a delightful feast for the eyes, reminding me of how the joy of ballet truly comes from everyone, from big companies to smaller stages.

Tutues and The "Dancing Queen"

There's one detail I noticed: tutus in the early 1980s were all about romanticism! Layers and layers of tulle were the standard, the classic, beautiful tutu. Imagine dancing in one! It must have felt absolutely breathtaking. And the pink...oh, the pink! They knew a thing or two about ballet colours in those days, just like myself! 💖

On this very day, I also saw this gorgeous pair of dancing shoes at "Le Bon Marché". The craftsmanship, darling, truly impeccable. A bit of research and it turns out, 1985 was when dance shoe manufacturing in France really started flourishing. All thanks to dedicated designers pushing the boundaries with materials and construction.

Shopping & Ballet In 1985

There's nothing quite like getting lost in a bustling French market. Oh, the fabrics, the beads, the lace... imagine all the stunning tutus I could make! I even found this wonderful little antique store filled with beautiful ballet books. Oh, darling, imagine all the fascinating stories those books hold! From the grand old classics to new dances, it was all right there, just waiting for someone like me to delve into.

I'd say my time in 1985 Paris was nothing short of fabulous. You know I'm obsessed with finding the most stunning vintage tutus, and honestly, my darling, this trip has been pure gold! There's just something about vintage that breathes new life into ballet fashion. And remember, dear reader, you can find a special vintage tutu yourself - look out for those gorgeous layers and romantic designs! They're waiting to add some magic to your own collection. 🩰

It's All About #TutuTuesday

Now, you know I've got to keep this #TutuTuesday tradition going, even after jumping through time. Remember to check in next Tuesday for more adventures, my darling. I've already got my next trip planned. It's time to visit New York City, and who knows what exciting discoveries I'll find there?

Until then, wear your pink tutu with pride and keep on dancing. The world is your stage! 💕
