Tutu Tuesday #8180: Back to the 80s! (With a Tutu, of course!) 🩰✨💖

Hello my darling Tutu-ettes! It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means! 🎶 It's time for another trip down memory lane, courtesy of your favourite time-travelling ballerina. I've travelled to 4th October, 1988 this week, and I must say, this decade has some seriously fabulous fashion inspiration!

The first thing that struck me was how absolutely huge the hair is! We’re talking gravity-defying poufs, backcombed to within an inch of their lives! This isn't just a 'big hair, don't care' situation, darlings, it's more like a 'BIG HAIR, own the whole room' moment.

Thankfully, I still fit in perfectly with my little pink tutu, which is, of course, essential for any fashion-forward, time-travelling ballerina! My signature tutu looks perfectly at home amongst the neon brights and oversized everything! This is a period where colour was king - and thankfully, my pink obsession fits right in! I spotted a pair of divine pink leggings in a vintage shop the other day and snapped them up - the ultimate 80s fashion fusion, wouldn't you say? 💖

Oh, speaking of shops! I popped into a high street shop for a little browse and found myself staring in amazement at the rows of shoulder pads, bright, bold colours, and leggings. Let's be honest, I felt a tad jealous of my 80s counterpart! These girls were rocking a confident look that I admire to this very day! It’s a real lesson in dressing with an unwavering sense of fun, isn't it? 😉

I think I spent a good half hour in a record shop admiring the album covers and catching a glimpse of a young Madonna's dance moves on the MTV station. If you can't see a connection to tutus there, well, I don’t know what to tell you! 🎤🩰

Anyway, while the fashions may be bold, the tutus remain constant - always classic, always feminine. I just love how ballet evolves, yet the tutu always keeps a timeless presence. You'll always be able to spot a dancer on stage thanks to those magnificent creations. They really are a work of art!

The excitement hasn’t stopped with fashion, though! I just had to pop along to see a ballet performance in Covent Garden. The Royal Ballet, of course! It was an enchanting rendition of 'Giselle'. This classical ballet masterpiece really showcases the elegance of tutus! The story itself is beautifully woven into the choreography, making the experience utterly magical.

Oh! Speaking of magic… It is rather incredible, really, to think how a seemingly simple article of clothing like a tutu can spark so much creativity and emotion! And that’s what my beloved ballet, and tutus in general, are all about! It’s about finding magic in movement and expression, just like we did today in London. ✨

So, as I continue my journey back to Derbyshire, England, I’ll leave you all with this:

Let's all find our own magic. Embrace your creativity, your boldness, and dare to wear a tutu with a smile. It might just be the thing to unlock a world of wonder, like it did for me today!

Until next Tuesday, keep twirling! 💖✨

Love,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
