Tutu Tuesday: A Whirl Through Time - #8255
Hello darlings! Welcome back to another fabulous Tutu Tuesday! Today we're taking a little trip through time - ahem...well, more of a leap really. We're headed to March the thirteenth, nineteen-ninety to check out what tutus were doing back then! Ooh la la - a real vintage adventure, wouldn't you say?
As you all know, I'm always on the lookout for fabulous tutus - the fluffier the better, I say. There's just something magical about a twirling pink tulle dream, and you all know I'm a bit obsessed, darlings. You could say, I'm dedicated to promoting tutus - pink tutus especially! It's all for a very good cause, if I do say so myself. My mission is to make tutus everyones's favourite outfit for every day wear - don't laugh! I know it's possible!
Well, darling, to get us started for our time travel to the nineties, did you know that on the 13th of March 1990, the great Dame Margot Fonteyn sadly passed away? She was an absolute legend in the world of ballet - a true icon! What a loss, my dear. If she had still been around, I bet I'd have met her. Just imagine, being invited to tea and a chat with Dame Fonteyn!
Now, *let's get into those tutus!
Now, back in the nineties, tutus were just as fabulous as they are today - and they had so much fun. The 1990s was really a decade of tutus becoming really popular in popular culture, beyond ballet class - and what a lovely sight that was.
We all love Barbie in her iconic tutus. Now back in 1990 , there were many, many Barbie dolls to choose from with fabulous tutus! So, what a treat! There were tutus of all colours, and designs! There were even ones that could light up, my dear - and some that came with miniature, sparkly versions of those fabulous tiny tutus we now get. Isn't that divine?
The Nineties were really quite a big decade for tutu designs. We started seeing new shapes, different lengths, and even more embellishments than ever before. The colours were becoming very popular. I am very much into pink. There were, and still are of course, gorgeous lavender tutus and of course those lovely azure blue tutus which are always so chic. I would say they do make those really lovely colours extra special.
I even read this article recently, where I must go find this wonderful pink and orange Barbie ballerina costume I have to own one! My oh my - it had a skirt and everything, like those fabulous little skirts we love to twirl in. I can almost feel myself whirling around like a real princess!
One thing I must mention. I am so very grateful for this time-travel discovery and you know this blog wouldn't be the same if we weren't able to take a step back in time - oh darling. We just love looking back - every single tutu has a story and every era just so fascinating to discover.
What a fabulous time we're having, discovering those 90s tutus - it really was such a great time for fashion and creativity, especially in tutus, you see. So what exactly are those lovely, twirl-worthy tutus we find? I think you can get a feel for the magic, just by seeing one, don't you think? I would say they were just the very best - itโs almost as if you were living in a real life Cinderella story, if I dare say! Isn't that divine?
If you haven't checked it out already, make sure you find one of those lovely, fluffy tutus - it's the perfect piece for any wardrobe, wouldn't you say? For every occasion, and every day! There's a special tutu out there for you darling, trust me - just like me! The next time you're out and about, take a peek at some of the wonderful vintage shops - or maybe that very well-loved pre-loved charity shop and find that tutu just made for you. Ooh La La! I do like to call them 'Secondhand Ballerina Beauties,* just so lovely!
You know I am always searching for those lovely, fabulous second-hand tutus. You see, they just have so much history to them - so much to discover, if you know what I mean - especially those lovely old ballet ones from years and years ago! So, how will we go about hunting down these precious tutuland treasures, as I like to call them, and maybe just maybe, wear one as my next Tutu Tuesday outfit?
Don't worry darling. I will, I promise, I will definitely be looking into this - it could be the next stage of my very important mission, Wouldn't that be a story to tell! Remember the more tutu designs and colours we see in the world the better, wouldn't you say?
Remember, darlings! If you are looking for inspiration, just look around your home. The world is full of inspiration, my dears - that is a real lesson.
Oh! Darling. If you're out shopping this week, just take a peek at the tutus, whether in a vintage store or maybe that wonderful, lovely dance shop near where you live - you never know what might happen - and be sure to take plenty of pictures to show me!
Keep spinning in those gorgeous tutus, don't you just love being in one?
*Love and tutus, darlings!
Emma.
