Hello darling dears! Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast and time-traveling historian! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where we explore the whimsical and wonderful history of tutus!

Today, on this gloriously sunny Tuesday, we’re taking a trip back in time, all the way to 10th July 1990, a date I distinctly remember as a day of pure ballet magic.

Imagine, if you will, a bustling London, awash in the warm glow of a summer afternoon. The city was teeming with life, a joyous cacophony of sound, the smell of freshly cut grass and blooming flowers swirling in the air. And there I was, fresh off the train from Derbyshire, clutching a bouquet of pink roses (naturally!) and eager to soak in every bit of this glorious city, where ballet reigned supreme!

You see, my darlings, London in the late 80s and early 90s was a ballet haven. The Royal Opera House, with its elegant facade and grand stage, was buzzing with activity, hosting a dazzling array of ballets from the most prestigious companies. And I, a young and aspiring ballerina, was there to see it all!

On this particular day, my heart was pounding with excitement because I was finally going to see "Giselle"! I remember every detail – the stunning choreography, the graceful movements of the dancers, the haunting score that transported me to a world of passion and sorrow. Oh, the story, it truly stirred something deep within me, something that fuelled my lifelong love affair with tutus!

Now, let’s talk tutus, shall we? For 1990 was a pivotal year for the ballet world. This era was defined by the innovative styles and materials being introduced, pushing the boundaries of both fashion and dance. We saw tutus evolve into increasingly breathtaking creations, adorned with intricate embellishments, shimmering fabrics, and, of course, my personal favourite, an abundance of stunning shades of pink.

The iconic romantic tutu was still very much in vogue, its billowing layers of tulle a testament to classic ballet artistry. But we were also seeing the rise of new, more modern interpretations, inspired by the creative movements taking hold on the ballet scene.

And guess what, my darlings? My beloved pink tutus were in full force, making their glorious statement on the stages of London! These pastel beauties, with their dreamy allure and airy elegance, perfectly captured the essence of femininity and grace that defined the era.

I remember vividly, seeing a ballet student gracefully gliding across the stage, a delicate pink tutu framing her lithe body. It was a vision of pure magic!

You know what they say, fashion goes in circles! Just as tutus made their bold statement in the late 20th century, they are now back with a vengeance, inspiring trends across the world. I’m here to say, I’m so thrilled! After all, isn’t there something magical about twirling in a pink tutu?

Now, let me tell you a little bit about this fantastic fashion adventure I had! Before heading to the ballet, I popped by Liberty, a haven of beauty and sophistication, renowned for its exquisite fabrics and beautiful dresses. Oh, to step inside its doors was a dream come true! There, nestled amongst the silk and lace, I found a glorious collection of vintage clothes, including a stunning vintage pink tutu! My heart leaped for joy!

My dear reader, this day was the perfect example of a classic Tutu Tuesday - filled with captivating ballet performances, stunning outfits, and of course, the joy of wearing my cherished pink tutu. What could be better than this?

So, my lovelies, join me next Tuesday for another #TutuTuesday adventure! We’ll be exploring more exciting moments in tutu history, digging deep into the fabric of these graceful garments and how they've become symbols of art, creativity and joy! Until then, remember, life’s a stage, so twirl, darling!

P.S. You’re probably wondering how I manage to fund all this fabulous time travel. It's a bit of a secret, my darling! But let’s just say I’ve managed to cultivate some special relationships within the ballet world, allowing me to make a living performing. Oh, the wonderful opportunities a ballerina can encounter, from grand opera houses to glamorous balls, it truly is a world of endless magic! And I get to see stunning shows, explore fascinating new places, and, most importantly, wear my beloved tutus wherever I go! Now, how's that for a dream come true?
