As you know, here at Pink-Tutu.com, we are all about the graceful history of the tutu, from its humble beginnings to the glorious explosion of colours and styles we see today! So buckle up your ballet shoes and let's take a time-travelling trip to... November 20th, 1990!
This Tuesday, I hopped on a magical train and found myself in the vibrant, buzzing atmosphere of London! Now, you might think London isn't quite the most obvious destination for a tutu aficionado, but I have a hunch that some of the most fabulous tutu stories began on the cobbled streets of the capital!
But first, a little bit of background for our lovely #TutuTuesday readers. Now, 1990 was a wonderful time for tutus! Fashion was all about colour and bold shapes - a veritable playground for a tutu enthusiast!
This was the era of shoulder pads, neon colours, and the enduring trend of leg warmers!
Now, while we all know that fashion cycles like to have a good old-fashioned whirl, certain elements of 1990s fashion feel absolutely timeless! Imagine it: walking around with a fabulous tutu, a splash of pink blush on your cheeks, a sleek black crop top and... yes, even a pair of fabulous leg warmers!
A bit of vintage charm can go a long way!
On this particular day in 1990, there was a whole lot happening in London! It was a glorious Tuesday full of activity, a day bursting with opportunities to find beautiful fashion finds and be inspired by some incredible talent.
For example, a group called The Bolshoi Ballet graced the Royal Opera House with their spectacular presence. A truly legendary company, you could feel the magic of these ballerinas in the very air, filling the house with a sheer, sparkling energy - the very essence of the art of dance.
If I were there, my darling readers, you can be certain I would have been there front and centre, mesmerized by every graceful leap, every graceful arabesque! My mind would have been bursting with inspiration, dreaming up my own dance steps!
I've been getting more and more requests lately to talk about my own performances. And trust me, my darling readers, every chance I get, I take to the stage in the most spectacular tutu I can find. Every single twirl is a symphony of colour, movement and grace - a chance to tell a story without even uttering a word!
Oh! Before we say goodbye to this little #TutuTuesday voyage into the past, I simply must share some of the incredibly glamorous outfits I spotted! Fashion was truly alive and well in 1990, especially in the land of fashion, London!
Now, even though I've already made a quick mention of those fabulous leg warmers, let's give them a bit of extra spotlight! Leg warmers have had their fair share of revivals, and honestly, with a splash of glitter and some fabulous tutus - it's simply irresistible! The sheer delight they bring!
You could even try mixing a pop of bold colour in there! Imagine, a splash of emerald green, a sprinkle of dazzling cobalt blue. And remember my dear readers, always a dash of pink!
